Joe Manchin was Governor of West Virginia until 2010, and is now a Senator from that state. The Trump victory has opened the door to his defection into the GOP.

Trump's willingness to redefine the GOP fight plan against the Left Wing Globalists of this country, just might save the Grand Old Party from certain extinction. Both national parties are in the midst of a "civil war." The Dems put their hopes on the Clintons, and were soundly rejected. Many within that party, are working 24/7 to move the party further to the Left. Good for them. Folks like Joe Manchin, have no intentions of making that move.

At the same time, the GOP, under Trump's guidance, is on the march to being a conservative/populace party. Same old/same old has gotten the party nowhere, Time for change and that time is now.

At least one Senate Democrat is not rallying behind Minority Leader Harry Reid’s sharp criticism of President-elect Trump.
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said that Reid, who said Trump’s election has “emboldened the forces of hate and bigotry,” is contributing to the division in the country when he should be working to unite Americans after a tough election.
“Senator Harry Reid’s statement today attacking President-elect Trump is wrong! It is an absolute embarrassment to the Senate as an institution, our Democratic party, and the nation. I want to be very clear, he does not speak for me,” Manchin said in a statement on Friday.[…]
Manchin this week said that he might be willing to switch parties in the event the Senate was split 50-50. A MSNBC reporter said that Manchin would not commit that he was definitely going to be a Democrat for the next two years.

The Stated Nonsense from the Left now includes these Progressive goals:
