Obama continues to debase Congressional powers -- Senator Jim DeMiint is mad as hell and won't take it anymore.

Washington, Sep 22 - U.S. Congressman Geoff Davis’ REINS (Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny) Act is gaining traction in Congress: a Senate version was introduced today by U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, R-South Carolina, and 12 co-sponsors:

The Problem Defined

Senator Jim DeMint: “We must put a stop to the reckless and costly anti-free market regulations that are destroying jobs. When the Obama Administration hasn’t been able to ram their anti-job polices through Congress, they’ve empowered unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats to force them through using regulations. From the ongoing attempts to control the environment and the Internet to the forthcoming barrage of regulations facing the health care and financial industry, it’s no wonder that consumer costs are rising and businesses are reluctant to invest and grow.”

The Solution

The REINS Act would require that every new major rule proposed by federal agencies be approved via joint resolution passed by both bodies in Congress and signed by the President before they can take effect. A “major rule” is any rule that the administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) finds may result in an annual effect on the economy of $100 million or more; a major increase in costs or prices for consumers; or significant adverse effects on the economy. Editor's notes: understand that Obama has set a pay czar in place, as well as an education czar and a finance regulatory czar. Each is unaccountable to anyone except Obama but make law that has no appeal. The Obama administration has done more to eliminate the existence of Congress than any other president in American history. He functions without accountability, much as a dictator would. While this is fine with the likes of the atheist/Marxist, Bill Mahar, it runs counter to anything we can imagine as "American." Senator DeMint understands what is happening to this country and the illegal/criminal effort at "transformation."

What are the lessons to be learned from the Delaware GOP primary

Christine O'Donnell is pictured left. Today, Tuesday the 14th, the GOP Party will choose their candidate for the Joe Biden Senate seat in Delaware. The State went to Obama in the '08 election by a vote margin of nearly 2 to 1.

On the Republican ticket, it is O'Donnell running against one of the more liberal House Republicans , a man named Mike Castle. He has been around for years and is considered to be the more desirable candidate by the establishment withing the GOP. "Win baby win" is the only doctrine of the GOP Establishment when it comes to competing in election politics. It is this kind of buffoonery that allowed Mayor Bloomberg to become a Republican, when in point of fact, he shared absolutely nothing
in common with Republican values, much less conservative values.

Ditto Schwarzenegger of California or Collins and Snowe of Maine, Chuck Hael (R-Neb), Dick Lugar (Indiana) and Arlen Specter before his defection (rhymes with "infection").

Back to Christine O'Donnell. The state GOP sees her as a "loser" and ABC describes her candidacy as Kamikazi politics. O'Donnell is supported by the TEA Party Express, Sarah Palin and Jim DeMint. Understand that Midknight Review does not subscribe to the view that "electability" is or should be a determining factor in candidate selection unless, of course, the candidates are all conservative in their political views.

We see no point in the GOP Establishment 's fear of offering real choices to the American People. The notion that an "R" before a representative's name is more important than whether that representative is a true conservative is preposterous on its face. If O'Donnell is the GOP candidate for the November election and loses that election, conservatives need to come back at the next opportunity with another candidate. The TEA Party is not going to have success at all levels and in every case. The Marxist Media will, of course, try to convince folks that "conservatism is dead" rather than focusing on issues.

Understand that conservatism is on the rise and our appeal is to a nation that has been "center right" for as long as any of us can remember. Our goal is the total eradication of Marxist values from the political scene and the mitigation of old school liberal notions (the two are very different).

Today may give us another conservative voice in the election process. Whether or not she wins in November makes NOT DIFFERENCE to the continuing effort to take our country back from the extremists who infect the political health of this country.

Editor's notes: you will be glad to know that Arizonans have no intention of judging Jan Brewer on her last performance, a rather disheartening debate performance. SHE HAS ALREADY proven herself to the Arizona voters and is, quite frankly, running away with the election. Understand that the day of the polished politician, vetted by a liberal Media, is over -- at least for the 2010 - 2012 election cycle. While the gutless Democrat Party runs for cover and the good-old-boys in the Republican Party are desperately trying to maintain control of that party, folks like Jan Brewer, Palin, Jim DeMint, Paul Ryan, Kevin McCarthy, Eric Cantor, Dick Army, Chris Christy, Joe Miller (should he win in Alaska), Scott Brown, Mike Pence, Dr. Rand Paul (should he win), Michele Bachmann, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh (the single most important 'grassroots' conservative on the planet), Hannity (he much more Republican, however, than he pretends to be), Mark Levin, that Michael Savage fellow, Hugh Hewitt, and the 50 million or so members of the "taxed enough already" party, are bringing the house down on politics as unusual -- in both parties.

Point of post: the country seems ready to have an election based upon principles -- just in the nick of time.
