William Hartung* writes that even after adjusting for inflation, quote,
"The volume of major deals concluded by the Obama administration in its
first five years exceeds the amount approved by the Bush administration
in its full eight years in office by nearly $30 billion." That also
means the Obama administration has approved more arms sales than any
other U.S. administration since World War II. Let's not forget the hundreds of millions of dollars in military equipment, arms and ammo left behind in Iraq at the time Obama decided to cut and run from that nation.
The majority of Barack's arms dealing, 60 percent, have gone to the Persian Gulf and Middle East,
and within that, the Saudis have been the largest recipient of things
like U.S. fighter planes, Apache attack helicopters, bombs, guns, almost
an entire arsenal they’ve purchased just in the last few years.

*William D. Hartung (born 7 June 1955) is director of the Arms and Security Project at the Center for International Policy.[1] He has also served as a Senior Research Fellow in the New America Foundation's American Strategy Program, and is former director of the Arms Trade Resource Center at the World Policy Institute. He is, also, a fairly radical Progressive globalist. In spite of being an opponent to the traditional and historic values of our country, he is a noted expert on the facts of weapons procurement and exportation.
Related article at The Hill, here, details the specific policy failures as claimed by the Progressive Left. This is a great read if you are a Conservative anti-Obama citizen. If not, now is the time to assume the position of "head in sand."
and a president elect attacks US intelligence agencies in an attempt to defend Russia.
ReplyDeletecould it get any worse?
You talking about the same CIA that told GW there were WMD's in Iraq, or could not track the Tsarnaev brothers before the Boston bombings? The CIA was politicized by the Clintons and has never moved away from that perspective.
DeleteCould it get worse? Not after Obama. He ignored the CIA, took away their job of international intelligence, and kept that agency away from interrogating captured enemy.
Comparing Iraq WMD and the hacked emails is a bogus comparison. The US intel agencies were being pressed by Cheney to find an excuse to invade. There was NOT unanimous agreement.
DeleteAnd here we are now... a US president attacks US intelligence agencies in an effort to defend Russia! And then appoints as Secretary of State - an oil CEO with zero diplomatic experience who has been given a Russian 'friendship award' by former KGB agent Vladimir Putin, a truly evil and ruthless leader. Wow... if Ronald Reagan could see this now.
And what does Smithson "the Patriot" do? He defends Russia.
wow
You write " The US intel agencies were being pressed by Cheney to find an excuse to invade. There was NOT unanimous agreement."
DeleteEvery major intel agency in the world support the WMD charge coming from the Bill Clinton CIA.
Washington Post "You don't have to be a close friend of President Vladimir Putin to be awarded Russia's Order of Friendship, much less the globe-trotting head of one of the world's most powerful corporations."
Finally, nowhere do I defend Russia. Hey, Loser, it was your Sec of State that want a new and viable relationship with Russia; it was your president who planned on being more flexible in the eyes of Putin.
