Why is the Iranian nuclear deal taking so long? You might be surprised at the answer.

<<<  Commentary from this blog's top dog

Yes,  this is my opinion,  but when have I been wrong,  lately  (since yesterday is "lately" to me)?

First,  Obama could have put the Iranian nuclear project in the bunkers,  years ago.  Now,  and,  without the guts to threaten bombing their facilities or maintain a high embargo level,  the man has nothing left but talk.  So he talks and talks and talks,  not realizing that with each of the past four "dead lines,"  the subsequent postponements make him look more and more like a dummy.  Too bad they don't publish a book entitled "Negotiations for Dummies."  Obama would have benefited from the reading.  Since he "could have prevented today's diplomatic crisis,  he wants you to get used to the idea that he is "working on the problem,"  and in that conditioning process (20 months with John Kerry at the helm),  forget that he could have stopped Iran in its tracks,  years ago.

Secondly,  Obama despises GW Bush.  If he gets this deal done,  even if such is without any substance,  he gets to say,  "I did what Bush could not do.  After all,  I killed bin Laden and brought our troops home   . . . .     or did I.  Anyway,  I did what Bush couldn't do."  This will go down as one of his legacy items.

Wanna bet that his library will be one of the least attended of the several Presidential  libraries.  I mean,  who wants to look at one make-believe accomplishment after another?

Anywho  . . . . .   now you know what I think about that.

  1. Republicans are heavily invested in the idea that President Obama lacks international respect. There’s new evidence that suggests the GOP has it backwards.

It was just a few months ago that Jeb Bush insisted that during the Obama era, “We have lost the trust and confidence of our friends. Around the same time, Scott Walker and Donald Trump reportedly had a chat about “how poorly” the United States is now “perceived throughout the world.” Mitt Romney added, “It is hard to name even a single country that has more respect and admiration for America today than when President Obama took office.”

Actually, it’s incredibly easy to name countries that have more respect and admiration for the United States today than when President Obama took office. The Pew Research Center published a report last week on “Global Attitudes & Trends” and found that America’s overall image around the world remains quite positive – and in much of the world, impressions of the U.S. have improved since the end of the Bush/Cheney era.

More specifically, though, President Obama is an especially popular figure in many parts of the world.
Half or more in 29 of 40 countries surveyed say they have confidence in President Obama to do the right thing in world affairs. Throughout his terms in office, Obama has received particularly strong ratings in Europe and Africa, and that continues to be the case this year. Majorities in every EU and sub-Saharan African nation surveyed give him positive marks. […]

Overall, Obama’s image has improved in the last year. In 14 countries of the 36 countries where trends from 2014 are available, more people now say they have confidence in the U.S. president. The largest gain occurred in India, which Obama visited in January. Almost three-in-four Indians express confidence in Obama, up from 48% a year ago. Double digit gains are also found in Ghana (+22 points), Turkey (+21), Nigeria (+20), Uganda (+11) and Brazil (+11).
It’s probably time for Republicans to update their talking points.

    1. Ridiculous. No one in the Middle East believes in what Obama is doing. That's 10 countries. Of the 60 countries Obama pretends have in a coalition to fight ISIS, there are only two countries (Great Britain and Turkey) who have flown any bombing runs at all . . . . . . . . giving Obama a rejection ratio of 58 to 2.
Ukraine hates as does the Czech Republic, Poland and Russia . . . . . all for very different reasons. You have China expanding its military might and influence as Obama sits by and watches. Taiwan fears our desertion. France has publicly decried Obama's efforts in the Iranian talks. Iran hates us. Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico uses US border policy against us, so I do not count them. Venezuela is no friend. We have spied on and been reprimanded by Argentina, Chile, Brazil, France and Germany. Obama separated himself from England on the first day of his presidency when he returned the Churchill bust against the wishes of Britain.

To take a poll thinking you are going to ask a politically hot question and get a straight up answer, is just plain stupid.

Obama's trust factor is upside down in this county, the only country that really counts in such a survey. No one trusts the man, primarily because he simply lies about everything.

Again, populace opinions in Utopian based countries and One World societies are meaningless and African nations had better say they respect Obama or he would cut them off from receiving any domestic aid, at all.
