After giving this past election a second thought, I do not see this picture as being true - but, certainly, we all understand the decision to memorialize the passing of this great nation.

Who or what really died on Tuesday?  Conservatism or Progressive thought? The truth may be a surprise to some of you.

In 2008, a little more than 130 million Americans turned out for the election of Barack Obama to the Presidency.  We add 1.3 million folks to the national population,  on average,  each year.   Since that 2008,  the nation’s population has grown by 5.5 million.

With that in mind,  there was good reason to expect a possible 2012 voter turnout of more than 135 million Americans.  Instead,  the turnout was less than 119 million, nearly 12 million less than in 2008 and 16 million less than what many expected.

The split as to this deficit was a minus 10 million for Obama (70 million in 2008 compared to a paltry  60 million in 2012),  and 58 million for Romney,  down from 60 in 2008 for McCain.

With that in mind,  I say this to all those disparaging Conservatives currently on suicide watch  --  the Liberal Left has a much bigger problem than the conservative Right does.

Understand that Tea Party conservatives remained as strong a coalition after this election cycle as in 2010.  Certainly,  our candidates need to mature in terms of what can and cannot be said, publicly,  but we can learn that lesson.  We can stop acting stupidly.

The Democrat Party took a 10 million vote hit at the polls,  and survived.  It could not change the legislative format of Congress.  It could not defeat the hated Tea Party influence.  And,  with Obama’s star now in retreat,  its future is far more bleak than what we see in the GOP/Conservative Caucus.

We came to the fight a little late,  but not before the Left could claim victory.

The libs have to be concerned with the question:  Did Obama advance himself or the ascendancy of Progressive thought?  A deficit vote of 10 million Democrats would suggest that progressive thought and practice took a huge hit on November the 6th.

The next election cycle is just 24 months into the future.  Expect to see continued gains as the GOP comes to terms with its new reality.
