This week is not going much better for the Dems than last week. The Senate may be forced to deal with issues it has been ignoring for years.

First female parliamentarian
in history and the timing of
her appointment is perfect.
Did you know that the Senate has a referee? Her name is Elizabeth MacDonough      and she was appointed to this position by none other than the hapless Harry Reid. Officially,  she is the Senate's parliamentarian.  Her job is to track procedure and to help keep the Senate in line with Senate process.  Her position has no power,  in and of itself.  The majority leader can decide to refuse the parliamentarian's advise, but,  that is seldom done. Elizabeth MacDonough has something special going for her, however.  She is the first female Senate parliamentarian in the history of American governance.  To refuse her advice and council would be high problematic.

Last week,  she met with Senate leaders from both sides of the aisle and informed them that Senate procedure called for a consideration and vote on several budget issues,  and even the submission and vote on Obama's budget proposal,  something that was voted down,  in the House,  414 to nothing.  The Senate just night have to deal with several potentially embarrassing financial issues in the weeks and months before the election.

With the passing of each day and week and month,  the Dems are finding themselves in a progressively worsening circumstance. . . .  not good in an election year.   I doubt anything monumental will happen,  but the Senate could be forced to have a roll call vote on the Ryan budget,  the Keystone Pipeline and parts of ObamaCare . . . . again, a very poor circumstance in terms of election year "P.R."

All I can say  in closing is "he he he."  Have the Dems outsmarted themselves?  Time will tell.
