Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has resigned from the board of the Country Music Association Foundation over criticism that his Christian views do no reflect the music industry, Fox News reports.
On Wednesday, Huckabee became a new member of the board that oversees the charitable branch of the CMA. On Thursday, he resigned after critics said he was too socially conservative and too Christian for country music.
One of his critics was homosexual country music publicist Jason Owen who objects to Huckabee’s traditional family values.
“Huckabee speaks of the sort of things that would suggest my family is morally beneath his and
uses language that has a profoundly negative impact upon young people all across this country,” Owen wrote. “Not to mention how harmful and damaging his deep involvement with the NRA is.”
