Just to be clear, Obama, himself, tried to filibuster the Supreme Court nomination of Samuel Alito. Thanks for the example, Barack.

In January 2006, then-Sen. Obama joined 24 colleagues in a futile effort led by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to filibuster the Supreme Court nomination of now-Justice Samuel Alito.

On January 29, 2006, Mr. Obama told George Stephanopulos on “This Week” that he would “be supporting the filibuster because I think Judge Alito, in fact, is somebody who is contrary to core American values, not just liberal values, you know. When you look at his decisions in particular during times of war, we need a court that is independent and is going to provide some check on the executive branch, and he has not shown himself willing to do that repeatedly.”  (ABC News, here)

  1. The GOP could have played it so much more classy. Upon learning about Scalia’s passing, Senate Republicans could have focused exclusively on the jurist’s family and legacy. But no, the assholes that they are - they immediately began the obstruction rhetoric before Scalia's body was cold. Doesn't matter. As they abdicate their constitutional duty, they allow Obama to use a recess appointment ... and the 4-4 court leans left now.

    GAME OVER.

    1. The GOP obstruction is fashioned after the Democrat example stated by Schumer in 2007, where he called for an 18 month boycott had Bush made a Supreme Court appointment. We are just following your lead, moron.

    2. Is that why in Reagan’s eighth year, nine months before Election Day 1988, the Democratic-led Senate confirmed Kennedy unanimously?

    3. What does your comment have to do with the fact that the GOP is only doing what the Dems did in the most recent years. Deal with Obama in 2006 and Schumer in 2007 and stop going back in time to find examples that have nothing to do with the current debate.
