Scandal: Top secret information was illegally shared by the WH/Pentagon with members of the production team for Zero Dark Thirty.

Random notes as this blog's editor reviews an article in the Huffington Post dealing with revelations that the Obama Administration worked with and gave filmmakers of Zero Dark Thirty,  classified information in the days leading up to the 2012 elections.  The article is found here:

In the article,  we learn that CIA Director Leon Panetta revealed the name of the raid commander during his speech at the agency's June 2011 event.  And,  the Pentagon's top intelligence official, Michael Vickers, divulged the name of an individual involved in the bin Laden raid to the filmmakers.  Both facts were in an original draft by the IG,  but omitted in the final draft.

The Huffington Post article confirmed the opinion that the original draft of the IG report on matters of intel and the making of the film were scrubbed before the final draft,  omitting any details as to "whether U.S. officials leaked classified information to the filmmakers and whether they compromised military tactics and procedures."  In the final report,  this information is given reference in "other investigators,"  but no longer was a part of the final [IG] draft.

Damning enough,  however,  is this remark in the final report,  "We were unable to identify any precautionary measures that were taken to protect the identity of operators that attended this event," the report said. Of course,  we all know that Joe Biden revealed the name of the Special Forces group, Navy Seal Team Six, the day following the killing,  putting all members of that special unit in danger.  Understand that such information was classified.  Biden,  an utter blowhard with no conscience as to what he did in this regard,  issued no regrets for his statement,  even after 17 members of Seal Team Six were killed,  12 weeks later.  Bastard.

Let's remember that this film,  Zero Dark Thirty,  was originally intended (by the Administration, at least) to give attention to Obama's involvement in the killing and was scheduled to be released two days before the 2012 presidential elections.  Two weeks prior to that election,  a little covered news lede told us that all references to Obama were omitted from the film,  and,  of course,  the film was not released until after the election,  Prior to the election,  folks had become aware of the politics of the films release,  and criticism was mounting.  As a result,  the Administration stepped beck,  after giving filmakers information that could not have come from any other source other than  CIA/Pentagon sources.
