Obama suffers a third agenda defeat since his second inauguration. His fail rate? He is three for three. Make that 5 of 5.

With updates
The AP has reported the death of the assault weapons ban,  a bill sponsored by Diane Feintein,  Senator/San Fran.  Rather than being a part of the bill, itself,  the gun ban will now be attached as an amendment,  at a later date.  In other words,  there will be no weapons ban in this congress.

"I very much regret it," Feinstein, D-Calif., told reporters of Reid's decision. "I tried my best."  (AP.com)

But,  of course,  she did not do her best.  Rather than working for a practical solution,  she and other gun haters in Congress,  over-reached against a population that is, largely, pro-gun ownership,  and,  in the end,  wasted a great deal of time,  all for nothing.

This episode in national Progressive politics was nothing more than an opportunity to use the death of children to push forward an unContitutional agenda that has nothing to do with real solutions.  Think about it:  a moron teenager kills his mother,  steals her guns,  kills 20 beautiful children,  and the anti-gun lobby comes to my house and takes my guns.  That is as crazy as crazy gets.

And Obama?  Well,  he had earned an “F”  from the Brady Campaign,  until this most recent scam decision to appear to be an anti-gun advocate.

President Barack Obama on Monday received a failing grade from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence for running away from gun control.   The group, which endorsed Obama in 2008, gave him an “F” on every issue it scored, including background checks, gun trafficking, guns in public, the federal assault weapons ban, standing up to the gun lobby and leadership.   Report filed Jan 19, 2010,  in The Hill.com

Count this as defeat # 3,  for Obama and his second term revenge presidency.

#1 -  Defeat number one was his battle to avoid cuts in the Sequester.  The Republicans called his bluff,  and the cuts passed into law,  a law he invented and signed,  by the way.

#2 – His second defeat to paint the GOP as “heartless”  because of the Sequester.  The GOP turned the tables of Mr.  Slick,  and offered to give him full control over the Sequester cuts to which he said, “No.”  He wanted to make them look bad.  That could not happen if he was responsible for the cuts.  The public,  to date,  has not bought into this most recent scam,  and his popularity has dropped nearly 10 points in some polls.

#3 – The third defeat is the weapons ban.  Even Senate Democrats would not vote for this proposition,  and the rest is, now,  history.

Update:  we can add to this list,  two additional "defeats."  Let us not forget the stunning victory pulled off by Rand Paul and his filibuster,  a 13 hour effort that forced the Administration to back down from its claim that it could kill Americans,  on American soil,  without due process or a legal hearing of any kind.

A fifth circumstance could be Obama's State of the Union speech,  in January.  In contrast to the 30 million Americans who listened/watched his previous "Union" speeches,  between 4 and 6 million, watched this years rhetorical irrelevancy  (per each of the three networks).
