Texas Sen.
Ted Cruz will be the keynote speaker at the Coalition for America Awards
dinner, tonight, Wednesday, March 13, in D.C. Those attending and being considered for
various awards as outstanding conservative pundits include the following:
National Legislator of the Year: Congressman Darrell Issa, Senator Marco Rubio, Senator
Rand Paul with Paul being the front runner after his titanic victory over the
Obama Administration, as he accomplished
in a 13 hour filibuster what the Senate RINO herd could not get down in four
stinking years.
State or Local Elected Official of
the Year: Governor Bobby Jindal, Governor Nikki Haley, Governor Sam Brownback with
Jindal being the frontrunner for this award.
Faith Community Leader of the Year: Frank Pavone, National Director, Priests for Life, Mathew D.
Staver, Liberty Counsel, Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput
Youth Leader of the Year: Alex Schriver, National Chairman, College Republican National
Committee, Katie Pavlich, News Editor of
Townhall.com and author of "Fast and Furious", Lila Rose, President, Live
Action with Pavlich the frontrunner, here,
because of the national coverage she has received for her book, Fast and Furious, and her several appearances on FoxNews as an
analyst.
Grassroots Organization of the Year: Competitive Enterprise Institute, National Right to Work
Committee, Susan B. Anthony List with the National
Right to Work Committee being my pick out of this impressive threesome.
Michael Schwartz Congressional
Staffer of the Year: Ed Corrigan, Senate Steering Committee (Senator Jim DeMint), Wesley
Goodman, Director of Conservative Coalitions and State Outreach, Republican
Study Committee, William Smith, Senate Budget Committee
(Senator Jeff Sessions) with [perhaps] Goodman being the first choice in this
category.
Freshman Legislator of the Year for
the 112th Congress: Senator Mike Lee, Senator Pat Toomey, Senator
Ron Johnson. All three have great
exposure as part of the new conservative coalition, but, perhaps,
Mike Lee leads the way in this grouping.
Outstanding New Organization of the
Year: Ending Spending, For America, Heritage
Action with Heritage being the runaway favorite, in my book.
Courage in the Face of Power: Daniel Award, Dan Cathy, President and COO,
Chick-fil-A, David Green, President, Hobby Lobby, and
Leo Johnson, Family Research Council, with
Hobby Lobby being my selection. It has not gotten the national attention of a
Chick-fil-a and may have taken a course of action in refusing to offer free
abortion coverage, that would lead to
its demise as a business entity.
Conservative Hall of Fame Award: Edwin J. Feulner, Jr., Retiring President, Heritage
Foundation, Hon. Edwin Meese, III, Tom Minnery, Senior Vice
President, Focus on the Family with the retiring Ed Feuller being a
favorite, here.
Media Person of the Year: Byron York, David Freddoso, Tim Carney. York has more
national attention. He writes for the
Washington Examiner and is a weekly analyst on FoxNews.
