According to Rasmussen, his near record low ratings, just before his speech at the joint session of congress, on September the 8th, were running on an average of near 43%. Bad. But they began improving, rising to a seven day average of approx 46%, three weeks ago.
However, that improvement has eroded, and, today, his seven day average beginning with today, includes these numbers: 42, 42, 42, 44, 44, 45, and 46 a week ago. His seven day average has never "flat lined" at 42%.
I think the American people liked the idea that he was willing to do something about the mess we are in. So what happened? Well, we do not know, but here are a couple of reasonable guesses:
They are beginning to read about the bill and see that it is really "Stimulus II."
Or, they really do not care for his spiteful and partisan rhetoric.
Remember the recent killings of two terrorist big shots (reported on September 13) ? That got him a 10 day bump of four points, from near 42 to 46 percent. Now that he has to stand on the accomplishment of sheer rhetoric, he is, once again, bounding along at the bottom of his approval cycle. Understand that without the Anwar al-Awlaki factor, his approval numbers remain in the 42 to 44 percent range.
