9/11 Responders bill passes congress with billions saved in the negotiations. Hats off to the GOP.

Update: 1:55 pm pst, 12/22/2010: it now appears that the final cost of the bill is 4.2 billion dollars, down from an original total of 8.4 billion. GOP leadership courageously stood their ground, fighting both for the passage of the bill while seeking to restrain spending. They did exactly that, extending the no-cost care to the Responders while saving the taxpayers 4.2. billion bucks. This act of astonishing leadership in the face of criticism from those of us (Midknight Review and others included) who did not know what was going on behind closed doors is a tribute to the New GOP and should encourage us all as we approach their time in Congress.

Let's see if any of the GOP's critics will man up to being wrong.

We are wondering if the NY Times article, How did Republicans End Up Against 9/11 Responders Bill, will receive the same self-criticism seen here at Midknight Review. Turns out they were absolutely wrong in their summation.

Original Post:
First reports about the passage of the 9/11 First Responders bill has the cost cut to 1 billion dollars, per Fox News and 4.2 billion dollars per ABC News. We will carry the corrected report on this when it sorts itself out in our update.

Understand this, the original Democrat bill would have cost the American taxpayer more than 7 billion dollars. Further, the reader needs to know that the bill's last minute scheduling should be credited to those who control congress, namely the leaders in the 111th congress and the Democrat Party. They could have dealt with this matter two years ago, but chose to pass onto its list of "cram down" legislation, mocking the American voter at every turn and ignoring the needs of the Responders.

The fact that this bill's last minute debate is in the Marxist controlled media is per the design of the Democrat congress in an effort to demonize the cost minded GOP.

Midknight Review has been critical of the GOP because of the appearance of being more concerned with dollars than the health of the Responders. You can see our two articles on this matter on the "scrolldown."

Now that the compromise has been made and billions have been saved per a Republican principled negotiation with the spending freaks in the Democrat Party, we criticize our own reporting . . . . . we should have waited, as we unusually do.

This bill, one that Obama will use as a feather in his legislative cap, is much more the result of the GOP and its no-nonsense approach to compassionate legislative consideration and responsible tax management -- something that has been totally none-existent for two full years.

Will Jon Stewart admit to his ill founded criticism? How about the mouth of the South, Shepard Smith? Of course not !!

We (I) proudly stand alone in our repentant self-abasement.
