Think Network News has more viewers than Fox Cable News? Think again, Waldo.

In this story -- ABC AND CBS NETWORK NEWS HITS ALL-TIME LOW IN 2010; AUDIENCE VANISH ACCELERATES... ---- the author gives audience totals of approximately 9.9 million (NBC) , 8.2 million for ABC and 6.4 million for cBS News; totals for the later two networks showing downward trends that have been the case for several years, now.

The Challenge

No mention of cable news except for this defensive statement: "The number of viewers still watching the three shows together — more than 24 million in the first quarter — continue to dwarf any news program on cable." And the world of the Gullible accepts this statement as fact without so much as the raising of an eyebrow.

Midkight Review responds to this ridiculous claim.

Understand that the three "major" news agencies are half hour shows. There is a reason for that and it is this:
the networks understand that 30 minutes is the maximum holding pattern for their individual audiences; longer than 30 minutes and their audiences fade away quickly. But, if the NY Times writers can combine the three shows and make the claim of 24 million viewers, would it not be fair to add up the audiences on the FoxNews network (and it is a network) as well ? Keep in mind that FoxNews is a 24 hour affair -- something that the major networks could not possibly duplicate, nobody would watch the thing.

Think about these totals: FoxNews combined audiences is around 28 million views as a total of the viewing audience for all of its news programing including the rerun shows. Leaving TV cable news behind, Conservative audiences add to the mix for the grassroots movement: Limbaugh presents to 20 million per week; Hannity to 13 million, Mark Levin to around 8 million (maybe 9 million).

The fact is that conservative audiences are the best informed political demographic in the Nation. Midknight Review is a small small part of that mix, as well. We mention our own publication because we believe it to be typical of the effort of many [if not most] conservative bloggers. While the bias and disgust is present, the blogs we feature in our blog roll(s) are written by authors who care about accuracy in their reporting. This editor never finds a story on a conservative blog that attempts to mislead and misinform "for the greater good."

At any rate, the point of this post is this: the State of the Union for Conservative News is having its best year ever. We are here, we are growing, we are powerful. Obama is not the only one who "doesn't quit" or is well spoken or knows how to fight the political wars. ---- jds
