Fiscal responsibility versus knee-jerk "climate warming" policies --- that should be the debate.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said on Thursday that anyone who doesn’t believe in climate change should not head the EPA.   And, so,  the Dems have another complaint versus Trump.  

Understand that the Globalist Progressive Party has already admitted partial defeat when they changed the name of the environmental menace previously known as "global warming" to the more non-descript "climate change."  I mean,  who can argue against climate change?  Except for the fact that,  with their change,  "climate change" is now code for . . . . 

Another example of Obama's militant EPA . . . . and now it has far less power.

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt is rescinding regulations that allow agency officials to veto projects before a permit is applied for or after it is granted, the EPA announced Wednesday.

“Today’s memo refocuses EPA on its core mission of protecting public health and the environment in a way that is fair and consistent with due process,” Pruitt said in a statement. “We must ensure that EPA exercises its authority under the Clean Water Act in a careful, predictable and prudent manner.”  . . . .
“I am concerned that the mere potential of EPA’s use of its … authority before or after the permitting process could influence investment decisions and chill economic growth by short-circuiting the permitting process,” Pruitt wrote in a Tuesday memo reviewed by the  WSJ.

 

The power, when used, has cost companies hundreds of millions  . . . . .

Update (7/1 an a 24 share):  Whatever the legal impact of this EPA decision,  the Court's decision puts a "pause" on Obama's revenge game against coal,  and gives that industry legal ground to file time-laden lawsuits,  win, lose or draw.

I have taken a couple of hours,  listening to the business community  (as opposed to news forecasts) in their analysis of this decision.  

Here is what I have learned with regard to the EPA/High Court decision:  

There was some sort of EPA decision,  in the recent past,  that legislated 10 million dollars worth of ANNUAL upgrades for 6 million dollars worth of benefits. This factored into the High Court's decision this morning.   

The fact of the matter concerning the Obama policy on EPA standards is this:  the EPA before today,  did not have to deal with cost-analysis  in making their draconian regulations.  Before his 2008 election,  Obama actually said that his coal standards would bankrupt that industry.  Well,  today,  the High Court handed out a huge "no can do"  and,  in effect,  gave the energy industry critical breathing room.  

What happens next?  

In a word,  the traditional energy industry will wait out this Administration.  What most people do not know,  and no one in the Obama Administration cares about,   is this fact:  in the past 25 years,  the coal industry has eliminated more than 50% of its harmful emissions,  and,  modern-day energy facilities built  before Obama,  are producing 95% less emissions than their older prototypes.  

More than this,  you should know that commonly known scientific research tells us that if the U.S. reduced its harmful emissions to zero by 2050,  there would be NO measurable change in recorded emissions or pollution, world-wide.  

African nations have complained that they are "developing nations,"  and must be allowed a certain degree of pollution.  Understand that "pollution" and industrialization go hand in hand.  Emergent nations of this world  (previously known as "third world nations") cannot afford to develop industry  (buy inventories,  purchase properties and factories,  pay for research and marketing,  and give employees a "living wage" per American standards) and comply with the regressive climate standards modeled by the U.S.,  at the same time.     In effect,  the Industrialized Nations are creating a two-tiered world that insures those at the top, stay at the top, and, those at the bottom,  cannot keep up or move up.  But,  more than the concerns of Emergent Nations,  you have Russia,  China and India  . . . . . .   prolific polluters unwilling to comply with any restrictive standards.  Until they join the fray,  nothing the US does in terms of regulations,  will be productive on the world's stage. 

It is my opinion that if we can't control the EPA,  we need to disband that agency.  Dido for the Department of Education.  I am a Christian,  and the Nazarene once said this:  "The Sabbath was made for man,  not man for the Sabbath."  Expand that thought to all of man-made laws,  and you have the proper perspective as to the importance and place of all domestic laws.  

It is simply asinine to elevate man-made laws and regulation to the point,  that they enslave and bankrupt whole sectors of the population.  

How many times has Obama said,  "We have to do this now?"  He said it with ObamaCare,  the 2009 Stimulus,  the Dodd/Frank Too Big To Fail banking reform and many of his failed Utopian fantasies.  As a result, we have passed into law,  thousands and thousands of pages of law without reading any of them   . . . . . .    all because we "do not have time to read,  we must act now."  

Nonsense.   

Such was a ruse for the purpose of passing legislation that would have never seen the light of day,  if folks had read the particular bill.  Blame the Legislature for this,  not Obama.  He is only a slickster who knows how politics work,  in D.C.,  and uses that knowledge to his Utopian advantage.

Anyway,  nothing but good news for the poor and middle class who rely on coal for their heat   - - - - -   something that Obama could not care less about.   

Time for a change,  and that change,  in part,  is happening as I write.

Thursday - Democrat Party News. EPA (an extension of the Democrat Party) outlaws most wood burning stoves. The new restrictions are meaningless because the EPA does not enforce country standards on such stoves.

Editor’s Notes:  Here is a story that will have little immediate effect on society:  the EPA “condemning” 80% of all wood burning stoves,  primarily used in rural America,  to heat their homes.  Sounds like a terrible over-reach. 

But,  consider this:  the county in which you live,  Mr. Rural America,  enforces all burn restrictive, daily burn law.  They do not enter your home.  Your home is safe.  Your current wood burning stove is safely hidden away.  And,  if you burn wood on red-hot coals standing in 2 to 4 inches of ash,  your chimney will expel heat,  not flames.  The article is from NewsMax (below),  but does not tell the full story.  Understand that there are legal run-arounds for most laws.  Look at what Obama is doing  . . . .    legal (for the most part) run arounds . . . . . good enough for him,  good enough for those he is trying to harm.  

EPA's Wood-Burning Stove Ban Deals Blow to Rural Homes

The Environmental Protection Agency recently imposed restrictions on wood-burning stoves that will deal a blow to rural Americans who rely on wood to heat their homes.

Critics charge that the rule changes were enacted following pressure from environmental groups.

The EPA tightened restrictions in January on the level of fine airborne particulate emissions that wood-burning stoves can emit, from 15 micrograms per cubic meter to a maximum of 12 micrograms.

The EPA restrictions would ban the production and sale of the kinds of wood-burning stoves that compose 80 percent of those currently in use in the United States, Forbes reported.

"Although this is an ancient technology, it can provide a solution for high heating costs in many parts of the country," Laura Huggins, a research fellow for both the Hoover Institution and the Property and Environment Research Center, told Newsmax.

"With up to one-third of this country's energy consumption used for heating, policymakers would be wise to consider the benefits of wood as a heat source," Huggins said.

In the face of tightening economies and rising heating costs, more Americans have been turning to cheaper, archaic sources for heat, especially those in poorer areas.

The number of households heating with wood grew 34 percent from 2000 to 2010, with 2.4 million homes, or 2.1 percent of U.S. housing units, using wood as their primary heating source, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Nearly 10 million additional homes use wood to supplement their primary heat source, the U.S. Energy Information Administration disclosed . . . . . . . .

Chase Power, the parent company behind the $3 billion Las Brisas coal power plant in Corpus Christi, Texas, announced yesterday that it was cancelling the project.
“Chase Power … has opted to suspend efforts to further permit the facility and is seeking alternative investors as part of a plan of dissolution for the parent company,” Chase CEO Dave Freysinger told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times.
Freysinger made it very clear who was responsible for the projects death. “The (Las Brisas Energy Center) is a victim of EPA’s concerted effort to stifle solid-fuel energy facilities in the U.S., including EPA’s carbon-permitting requirements and EPA’s New Source Performance Standards for new power plants,” he said.
The Las Brisas power plant had been part of a larger Las Brisas Energy Center project planned for Corpus Christi’s Inner Harbor.Economists had projected that in the first 5 years of construction and operation the project would create as 1,300 direct and 2,600 indirect jobs. Now none of those jobs will exist.
“These costly rules exceeded the bounds of EPA authority, incur tremendous costs, and produce no real benefits related to climate change,” Freysinger commented

Proof positive that this Administration is using the EPA to create law and [then] prosecute those who violate those law.

Update: the Administration has scrubbed the video remarks of its EPA director but we have most of the text.  You should know that this Administration has "scrubbed" more content from the web than any presidential Administration in history.  Who in this world does this bunch of clowns think they are fooling ??

Administrator Armendariz of the EPA was caught on video describing an Obama Administration's war against oil and gas, something we conservatives have been charging since Obama came into power.  The Dems have denied, denied, denied until the beginning of this week.  Turns out the video included in this post,  was recorded in  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2010. "Crucify" is the word making the headlines, taken from this video,  but,  the following statement is much more the problem:  " . . . . . . we do have some pretty effective enforcement tools. Compliance can get very high, [he is talking about monetary costs]  very, very quickly."  Understand that gas/oil is only one of seven targets the EPA has in mind.  Because of this video,  we now know in no uncertain terms,  that this Administration is acting outside Congressional review and the will of the people, to established its solitary will against whichever company it sees as needing "to be taught a lesson." 

Thanks to Senator Jim Inhofe (R - OK) and because of his efforts, the Administration's anti-American agenda and enforcement practices are being exposed to some degree.  

 Understand that the "laws" that are being broken, are, in fact, rules created by the Obama run EPA (not Congress) .  The EPA makes the rules and then rushes in to prosecute the "violators."  This Administration has never been concerned with the "will of the people" or Constitutional governance."  "Sue me" is the battle cry of Obama and he believes he can make his battle cry work.  In fact,  it has worked quite well for our First Rogue President.  

This 'scandal" is just getting its legs and will be in the news for some time to come . . . . . . . . . . .  I give you my word.

That’s what these companies respond to is both their public image but also financial pressure. So you put some financial pressure on a company, you get other people in that industry to clean up very quickly. . . . So, that’s our general philosophy

EPA thinking about banning fishing weights and bullets? . . . . . . . . . . na !!

Midknight Review, yesterday, reported the nonsense of a petition sent to the EPA urging the agency to ban lead fishing weights and bullets. Seriously. We were upset that the Marxist Green controlled regulatory concern was even considering the petition. That was yesterday.

EPA reached this decision because the agency does not have the legal authority to regulate this type of product under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) – nor is the agency seeking such authority.

"This petition, which was submitted to EPA at the beginning of this month, is one of hundreds of petitions submitted to EPA by outside groups each year. This petition was filed under TSCA, which requires the agency to review and respond within 90 days.

"EPA is taking action on many fronts to address major sources of lead in our society, such as eliminating childhood exposures to lead; however, EPA was not and is not considering taking action on whether the lead content in hunting ammunition poses an undue threat to wildlife.

"As there are no similar jurisdictional issues relating to the agency's authority over fishing sinkers, EPA – as required by law – will continue formally reviewing a second part the petition related to lead fishing sinkers.

"Those wishing to comment specifically on the fishing tackle issue can do so by visiting http://www.regulations.gov. EPA will consider comments that are submitted by September 15."

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is considering a crackdown on farm dust, so senators have signed a letter addressing their concerns on the possible regulations.

The letter dated July 23 to the EPA states, "If approved, would establish the most stringent and unparalleled regulation of dust in our nation's history." It further states, "We respect efforts for a clean and healthy environment, but not at the expense of common sense. These identified levels will be extremely burdensome for farmers and livestock producers to attain. Whether its livestock kicking up dust, soybeans being combined on a dry day in the fall, or driving a car down the gravel road, dust is a naturally occurring event" . . . . . . .

Editor's notes: with the installment of the 112th Congress (Jan 20, 2011) , one of the issues that need to be addressed is the increasing power of the several regulatory agencies, i.e. the EPA, the FCC, the SEC, the FTC and the NEA (National Education Agency) with regard to the establishment of new Federal policy or the expansion thereof.

Understand that is the EPA that may empower "Cap and Trade" without Congressional approval. It is is the EPA that may damage farming for ever. It is the FCC and the FTC that may be used to regulate conservative talk radio into oblivion. It is the SEC that may regulate Wall Street, punishing pro-conservative companies. It is the NEA that pushes issues of faith and conscience further out the door, teaching our children AGAINST OUR WILL and forbidding full classroom disclosure !!

Add to these "tools" for dictatorship Obama's abuse of the "czar" process (a 38 billion dollar collective operating as "staff," hiding behind "executive privilege," refusing to answer questions from Congress, existing without any Congressional review possible, solely answerable to Obama); the use of "executive order" and any presidential privilege that can be utilized to usurp Federal authority without Congressional review and approval.

The Obama Administration has made it clear that the US Congress is no longer needed. THAT needs to be fixed and the business of Congressional review and repair is extensive and very complicated. This review process needs to be completed before we elect out next Marxist sympathizer.
