I thought I was the only one. Turns out the President is aware of facts after a GOP shut down and they ain't bad.

Comments by President Trump,  as he considers shutdown the government for good cause.  I have been making this argument for years.  

Donald Trump:   Establishment Republicans and anti-Trump journalists were stunned when President Trump tweeted that he would be willing to risk a government shutdown in order to secure funding for his border wall.

The conventional wisdom in political and media circles is that the Republican Party will pay the price for a government shutdown.

This is fake news.

In 1996, the election . . . .  
. . . .   immediately after the 1995 government shutdown – that the media claims re-elected Bill Clinton – the GOP gained two seats in the Senate (while losing only 3 seats in the House ~ editor).

And in 2014, after the media claimed the GOP committed political suicide after shutting down the government over defunding Obamacare the Republican Party gained nine Senate seats and seized control of the chamber.

Related notes:  The 2014 midterms following the 13 day shutdown in 2013,  was the most one sided election since Woodrow Wilson,  an overwhelming referendum against President Obama.  

In 1994 midterms,  the GOP picked up 2 seats in the Senate but lost 3 seats in the house  . . . .   while maintaining control of both houses of congress.
