Before the Putin meeting tomorrow,  President Trump committed to one very important matter:  Article 5 of the NATO agreement.

The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.
Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security.

In this founding agreement,  NATO members vow to defend individual members when attacked by an outside enemy force such as Russia.  Its called "collective defense" and is the most critical aspect of NATO.

Before Trump , NATO had no mission statement that including a stand against terror,  Islamic or otherwise.  Nor,  were the individual nations in compliance with their own commitments for financial.  Trump got NATO to expand its mission statement and has persuaded a number of members to start paying their fair share.  So much for Trump's version of nationalism being another word for "isolationism."  Trump has straightened NATO, when Obama attended the meetings more for the photo opts and agreement that transferred American wealth out of our country.

Now that Trump has made clear his commitment to Article 5,  he is ready to talk to Putin and the American press is, again,  disappointed in their failure to predict what this man,  our President, is about to do at any given time.

Will they tire of making fools of themselves?  Not likely  . . . .  its too much fun being stupid.
