Betrayal? Not yet, but . . . . . The government gets funded through September. The real budget fight is already in the works.

Updated for commentaryIf the pending budget agreement is a leader for the first of Trump Era budgets,  the first to be completed by October 1st of this year,  we are looking at a classic betrayal  . . .   not by Trump,  but my the mainstays within the GOP.  For now,  this blog will not go so far as to rant about "betrayal,"  for the reason(s) given below.  Understand that there are four critical issues:  Middle Class tax reform,  the repeal/replacement of ObamaCare,  Building the Wall in whatever form,  and the passage of a new budget that reduces the size of government  (i.e., cuts to the EPA and EDUCATION) and allows for the Trump agenda to move forward.  Personally,  I would place the October Budget at the top of the list,  followed by tax reform.  For the time being,  let's not get too discouraged.  Trump has been masterful over the past 100 days.  Keep that in mind and trust in his instincts  ~  editor.

Rather than a funding bill that extends through the end of this week (that was the talk on Friday evening),  it looks like Congress will approve a huge $1 trillion-plus spending bill that would fund the day-to-day operations  through Oct. 1.  It is not a "done deal,"  but it does look like the bill will pass through Congress on a bipartisan vote.  It funds Planned Parenthood and omits The Wall.

I hasten to add that there is no reason to believe that work on the design features of the wall and legal efforts effecting "right of way easements" is not continuing,  however.

If you trust the President,  you believe that a "wall" will be built.

Understand that this spending bill is necessary because the Obama Administration failed  (as usual) to complete its budgetary responsibility.  The government is working off the last fiscal year of Obama,  which does not end until October 1 of this year.   In fact,  the Democrat party no longer believes in a "budget,"  and did not pass a single, comprehensive, budget for the first six years of the Obama Error as prescribed by law.

Work continues on the new budget as we speak.  That budget, President Trump's first budget,  has to be ready by October 1.  If his promises are pushed aside in that budget,  serious issues face the GOP and its future.
