How did the Monday debate rate? A record but short of expectations.

Turns out that the Monday night debate failed to meet expectations while breaking the previous record for a national political debate,  In 1980,  the Carter/Reagan debate took in 80 million viewers.  Monday night's debate took in 81 million folks,  far less than the predicted 90 to 100 million.

You should, also, know that the Monday debate crushed the attendance record of the Mitt/Barack debate.  In that case,  a little over 67 million folks watched the first debate.

  1. As the fact checkers have shown, Trump simply didn't know the facts. 79% of Clinton’s rated statements were true, compared to 15% of Trump’s. On the other hand, 6% of Clinton’s statements were rated false, compared to 59% of Trump’s. By the percentages, Clinton was correct more than 5 times more often, and Trump told almost 10 times as many lies.

Why wasn’t Trump better prepared with facts? His advisers say he found it hard to focus during debate-prep meetings. That, in a nutshell, is his biggest handicap: While Hillary has always been an A-student who does her homework, Donald is a D-student who can’t focus. That's why, like his followers, he's ignorant, ill-informed, and not very knowledgeable on the wide variety of topics required to be a president.

This is completely consistent with what his biographer David Schwartz said: "Lying is second nature to him ... He has no attention span... it’s impossible to keep him focussed on any topic, other than his own self-aggrandizement, for more than a few minutes. He has a stunning level of superficial knowledge and plain ignorance. I seriously doubt that Trump has ever read a book straight through in his adult life."

-- Tony Schwartz, author of Trump's "The Art of Deal", who spent 18 months with Trump during the writing of the book.

    Appropriately, he IS your man.

    1. If I believed that lying was a presidential qualifier, I would be in the tqank for Hillary. If I was a communist/socialist, I would be in the tank for Hillary. If I didn't give a crap about the 500,000 lives lost to ISIS, I would be a huge supporter of Hillary. If I thought the flag was a racist symbol, I would be in the tank for Hillary. If I thought Bill's mistreatment of women was A-OK, I'd be in the tank for Hillary. If I thought it was cool to support racist, misogynist, anti-Semitic regimes, I would think as highly of Hillary as you do. If I thought it was cool to earn 130 million dollars without holding a job, I would vote for Hillary. If I thought as little of national security, Hillary would be my choice. If I thought it was reasonable to sleep while men were dying in Benghazi, I would have Hillary at the top of my list.
