Was the GOP to blame for an engineer speeding into a turn, 56 mph fast than sfety rules recommended?

White House attacks GOP for trying to cut Amtrak . . . Just hours after an Amtrak derailment that killed seven people and injured dozens of others, the White House assailed Republicans for supporting legislation that would cut funding for Amtrak by $250 million. Washington Examiner

Editor's notes:  Understand that proposed cuts to Amtrak would have had no effect as to the recent Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia.   The tracks were in good repair.  And the device that would control train speed had been purchased by Amtrak seven years ago.  It was Amtrak that had not installed the device, not a GOP refusal to fund the safety device.  The fact remains that the train was traveling at 106 mph going into a 50 mph curve and the engineer was a union man,  a Democrat.  Now,  should I become completely irrational,  and accuse the Dems of causing the accident?   Using their logic,  I be required to make such a ridiculous claim.

Don't feed the Amtrak beast . . . Democrats responded immediately with a hand darting out to grab more taxpayer dollars. Without knowing the cause of the accident, they demanded a doubling of Amtrak's budget. You almost have to admire the brazen opportunism — making such demands while the wreck was still smoldering and most of the victims' identities had not been made public. Washington Examiner

Editor's notes:  Within 15 minuets of 9/11,  the Dems were making political statements against Bush for "taking too long to come out of the classroom,"  as he read to and worried about the impact of that disaster on the young students.  Incredibly insensitive.   Obviously,  this is how the Dems play the game.  Before the smoke had cleared away and all the passengers accounted for,  the Dems started making excuses for the failure of Amtrak as to the installation of safety devices funded seven years ago.
We simply no longer need leadership that cannot think outside the box of race or partisanship.  The Examiner is righteous in its criticism.  The Dems should be ashamed of themselves.  What they do not seem to understand is this:  such shallowness does not win them votes from outside their own party's demographics.

  1. The GOP has fought modern high speed rail at every turn. We continue to be embarrassingly behind the world in rail service.

  2. From an economic pov, anonymous cannot justify the cost of construction, land acquisition, state by state architectural fees, permits and plan reviews, and environmental studies needed for high speed rail.
