Texas is working to limit abortions to the first 20 weeks of pregnancy and, in so doing, its legislation meets the approval of a majority of American women.

5 out of 34 abortion mills closed after the Gosnell  trial and subsequent health regulation governing abortion clinic standards and practices.  The abortion lobby argued that nearly all of Pennsylvania’s  abortion clinics would fail,  if health regulations were imposed.  Didn’t happen.

And today, in Texas,  a new legislative effort will begin to ban abortions following 20 weeks of pregnancy.  Of course,  the same lobbyists in Pennsylvania are arguing  that this is the end to free and “effective” abortion in Texas.  It is not,  of course.  The bill allows abortion into the 2nd trimester of pregnancy and makes provisions for a mal-formed fetus.

Understand 60% of American women oppose 2nd trimester abortions,  and a surprising 80% oppose late term or 3rd trimester,  according to Kirsten Powers,  a Democrat analysis who writes for the Daily Beast.   The 2nd trimester begins with the 14th  week of pregnancy and the 3rd trimester begins with the 27th week of pregnancy.

This editor believes that a total ban on abortion will never happen.  The actions taken by the Texas State legislature is the next best thing, and it is something that will stand after legal review.  This is where we conservatives need to fight this battle.  The all or nothing approach is actually continuing the deaths of 1.4 million unborn infants per year.  Through education and legislation,  we can cut this slaughter down to a few hundred.
