The headline of the moment:
I would think this headline to be funny if it were not for the
fact that so many will believe its underlying premise, that being
"the Republican Party is the party of segregation."
Think about it:
Democrats gave us the KKK It was Southern Democrats who murdered
black ministers, hung black fathers in front of their family, burned black
churches to the ground, refused blacks the vote, made slaves out
them as a matter of national policy. George Wallace, the Democrat
governor of Alabama, was a stereo-typical Southern Democrat governor of
the 50's and 60's, segregating public schools and refusing black entry
into state colleges. The military was segregated under Woodrow
Wilson and, again, under FDR - both Democrats. When
President Eisenhower tried to pass the first civil rights act in the
mid-1950's, it was opposed by the Democrat Party lead by none other than
LBJ. In 1964, this same LBJ helped to pass the Civil Rights Act that
we have today. The bill passed with a higher percentage of Republican
votes than Democrats.
When the headline
speaks of "re-segregation," it has to be talking about days of
old when Democrats ruled the South, and blacks were running for their lives.
It is not only a
ridiculous accusation (implied), it is a filthy lie with absolutely no historical
basis in fact, whatsoever. The Republican Party and its largest demographic, TEA party conservatives, have never been about segregation as a matter of policy . . . . . never.
Certainly, we have had folks bring signs to our [TEA party] meetings and
demonstrations, but, in every case, those incidences were
dealt with, the signs were taken down, and in some cases, the
offending individuals were removed. "Re-segregation"
as a goal of the GOP is not possible. Heck, the Republican Party
had its very beginnings fighting and dying for the end of slavery. The
Democrats can make no such claim.
In today's social economy, black Democrat leadership
(and I speak of Democrat "leadership" only) is all about the
blame game and taking from the larger community. These leaders, Al
Sharpton and Maxine Waters as examples, are among the most raciest
leaders in this nation. Every social problem within the black community
is considered "the fault of both the white man and [especially] the
conservative Republican white man." The truth is a very different reality.
When a younger man, I believed
we were headed for a time when race would not be the issue it was at the time
of my high school graduation (1963). I raised two sons as a single
parent. One of my strategies as a parent, was to brainwash them
(better me than the secular media) against the evils of racial prejudice.
Mississippi Burning was a film released in 1988 (my boys were 13 and 10
at that time). that documented the killing of three college aged voting rights
workers in 1964 (I was 19 years old). They caught the killers, but
only convicted them on "civil rights violations." You can
imagine, me a young person, seeing "three of my own
generation" murdered and buried in a land fill, and their killers getting
away with murder. I never forgot that time.
Although I never made the point to
my boys, those who killed the three young men were all Democrats. I did not make the point because it did not seem important. But, since that dark time, somehow, along the way, this all got turned on its head, and
the Republican's have been labeled "the party of segregation"
when nothing could be further from the truth.
Taking on the task of correcting "race" lies from the Left, Bob
Parks, a conservative black journalist and reporter has written as
thorough an expose' on this matter, as can be found on the 'net.
The article,
titled The Democrat
Race Lie ** documents more
than 60 legislative and historical events, putting Democrat complicity in its
deserved context.
Here are a few excerpts from this article:
Beginning with this first entry:
October 13, 1858
During Lincoln-Douglas debates, U.S. Senator Stephen Douglas (D-IL) states: “I do not regard the Negro as my equal, and positively deny that he is my brother, or any kin to me whatever”; Douglas became Democratic Party’s 1860 presidential nominee . . . . .
Bob Parks goes on to document 62 additional events, such as:
August 18, 1920
Republican-authored 19th Amendment, giving women the vote, becomes part of Constitution; 26 of the 36 states to ratify had Republican-controlled legislatures
March 12, 1956

Point of post: while racism can be found in our churches, all political parties, in Occupy and the TEA party, the fact remains that the Democrat Party bears most of the blame for this continuing tragedy. Certainly, even if you disagree with that last statement, the fact remains that Democrats, long ago, forfeited their right to complain about and point the bony finger against Republicans. No act of prejudice is more insidious than the current push to enlist blacks onto the welfare rolls and keep them there. Should they be excluded from such aid? Of course not, but neither should their presence on these welfare rolls be a generational camping ground. There is no upward movement when welfare supplies all needs except that of job training and job placement. The worst kind of prejudice is that which enslaves people in exchange for their political support.
** I like the fact that Parks uses "Democrat" rather than "Democratic." Understand that "Democrat" is often considered an insult, members of that party preferring "Democratic Party." I never use that last term because "democratic" speaks to process in my opinion, and, as such, does not frame the Democrat Party as I see its function -- it is not a democratic institution.

Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act. What did conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things - EVERY ONE.
ReplyDeleteMuch of the above is nothing less than a damn lie. It was Southern Democrats who opposed women's sufferage and integration, period. I went to college in the south, back in the mid-1960's The South was all Democrat and full of racism. Any claim otherwise is a stinking lie. The first Civil Rights Act was signed into law under Eisenhower in 1958, so drop dead on that one. Medicare was an LBJ thing and has proven to be an economic disaster, currently 39 trillion in the debt. The Clean Air Act of 1970 was signed into law by a Republican president, Richard Nixion - you moron. Ditto the Clean Water Act - again signed into law by Nixon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fool you must be in "real" life.
You are confusing the pat with the present. Tat is a common mental disorder with Republicans. it is a characteristic of regressioves.
ReplyDeleteI'll make it simple for you and your readers.
Your code word guide to the GOP, Smithson, and the Republican primary:
"job creators" - rich people, the guy bankrolling my super Pac
"family values" - anti gay
"religious freedom" - pro Christian theocracy
"liberal media" - media that asks questions they're too afraid to answer
"secure the border" - anti-Mexican, keep America white
I am sure my readers will buy into your definitions. I know I have. Thanks.
