Is Obama really getting the degree of media support we think he is getting.

As you know,  I view most polls with a great deal of suspicion.  PEW is an organization that is clearly Left leaning,  but not radically Left,  by any means. I consider PEW to be a reliable source.   Having said that,  this particular chart is something that is beyond "mystifying,"  to me.  This chart measures media coverage,  both negative and positive coverage.  The bar graph for Obama is so unrelated with what we see as  "reality"  as to "boggle the mind."

Jan 30, 2012 - Feb 5, 2012

Percentage of coverage
Negative  Positive
Gingrich41%  24%
Paul14  29
Romney38  29
Santorum22  29
Obama44  9
Here is PEW's explanation:
The good economic news on the jobs front last week didn’t  translate into better coverage for the president who once again saw his negative coverage overwhelm the positive—and by a factor of nearly 5-1. Indeed, in only two weeks since the beginning of July has Obama endured a larger gap between negative and positive coverage than he did last week, when it reached 35 percentage points.

Editor's note:  if this is, in fact,  an accurate depiction of what is going on in the media,  at large,  the radical element in news reporting has backed off from their fearless leader.
