Gamesmanship and the American Jobs Act.

The only people who are blaming the Republicans for "standing in the way of the American Jobs Act" are the partisan hacks in the media and the politically ignorant. You are either mean or green in your opposition and that gets us nowhere.

Understand that less than 16 hours after he presented his bill in a joint session of congress on September 8, he was chiding the GOP for not taking action. Does anyone understand just how stupid that is.
  • For starters, he was a full week [later] coming up with his explanation as to how the bill would be paid for. In other words, the bill was not complete when presented to the joint session!!!
  • Secondly, the bill had not been presented to either of the houses of congress. In other words, the bill was nowhere to be found. Only with this past week, did the bill make its way into both houses of congress.
  • Third, the bill has not been "scored" for its fiscal claims, something that is required by law and something that can only happen after it is given to the House.
  • Fourth, rushing Obama legislation only allows for the worst kind of legislative malpractice. It is beyond stupid for any legislator to argue, "We must pass the bill so that we see what is in the bill." It is the worst kind of malpractice to cram a bill through congress without allowing debate, committee review, and compromise.
Yet, today, Obama, in his radio address, demanded that the bill be returned, "I want my bill back." Of course, he is talking about an approved bill. You should know that this bill does not have a single Democrat sponsor in the House of Representatives, not one. And, as of yesterday, the talk was that there was too much Democrat opposition to get the bill through the Senate. The thing is as much a fiasco as his first two attempts.

Need I remind the reader of the February, 2011, Senate vote on Obama's first budget proposal? 97 to 0 against that ridiculous piece of legislation.

How about his second effort? In April he came up with another bill. That was so poorly written that the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office told Obama, "We cannot estimate a speech." The bill, consequently, dropped off the face of the planet.

And now, this third attempt . . . . . . . . a bill for which he has no Democrat sponsors.

Point of post: I am just trying to put Obama's rantings and ravings into a historical context. It is clear, that he is using the bill for one purpose and one purpose only, to score campaign points.
Understand that the bill has not been rejected by anyone. Not at all.

Rather, congress is waiting for the Budget Office to review the bill, as it does with all bills, and then, the process of committee meetings and bi-partisan input will begin.
