Rasmussens 7 day Obama approval average - highest in months

The past 7 days have seen approval scores of 48,47,46,47,47,47, and 45 for an average of 46.9 %.

That is the highest 7 day average in nearly a 9 months. Are people seeing Obama differently? Not really. What we have here is the end of a huge news cycle, ending with the midterm elections and the passing of the Lame Duck session. We expect to see a "bounce for Obama" during this lull. The new congress, the 112th, will be sworn in on January 20. The Lame Duck session is scheduled to end this week. With the new congress, Obama might be somewhat at an advantage, depending on whether he knows how to make use of the divided congressional scene. If he decides to continue ordering the GOP around and whining about Bush and working to dismantle constitutional freedoms, he may not survive the 2012 elections.

  2. Lame Duck meets the week before Thanksgiving and the week following Thanksgiving. Of course the Senate leader (Reid) can extend the second week's session, but this is seldom done and only for an extra day or two. There is no talk of that happening now.

The Senate only meets. The House is done and waits for the swearing in of the new Reps come January 20th.
