The stated opinion (below) that temps are likely to increase "dramatically" is not a factual statement, but, rather, a reflexion of a particular bias and nothing more. Readers and students need to be careful not to confuse political opinion with scientific fact when viewing publications such as the one below. Such confusion is difficult to avoid when, in this case, a factually based chart is partnered with a politically motivated point of view.
Understand that the Leftists in this country know full well that the headline "Record high temperatures far outpace record lows across U.S." intends to raise the "fear" factor of the reader. Midknight Review maintains that this particular headline speaks to a national temperature rise for the past 60 years of less than a .8 degree (Celsius) increase. Without actual temperature readings, charts such as this, showing "record" increases, are hardly a call to radical reaction. The reader should ask this question, "Why have actual temp readings been excluded from this chart ?" Our answer ? Because those numbers do not make the point a more generally crafted publication does. -- jds.

Thursday, February 11th, 2010The key point is that you can’t draw conclusions about the climate from any single weather event, but instead need to do statistical analyses across large regions to understand what is happening.
