A statement from the editor of Midknight Review. It is sets the tone for everything we are about here, on this blog.

Recently, this editor has been involved in a brief discussion with a couple (and we do mean "couple") of Marxist Socialists. We challenged them on issues and they limited their rebuttals to ad hominem content. This editor can dish it out and take shots in return. No problem. But when rebuttal is limited to the ad hom, well, nothing is accomplished. Here is my final comment to the two we call "Kelley." The point of this post is found in the content of the following statement.

I have just been accused of being "pathetic." Fine. I have several wives who would agree. The problem is found in the fact that the respondents failed to go beyond this anecdotal assumption. Here is my repsonse. I present it here, because it gives a little insight into the nature of the political war and this editor's passion in that regard:

The co-opting of a nation's history is that which is truly pathetic. In the face of a rather well stated, albeit, brief rebuttal, all you have to say is "pathetic" ?? No defense of the Left's assault on free speech? No accepting of my "challenge" ?? No continued assault on my faith as a Christian (something Lefties do best)? No defense of your theft of the American dream?

For my readers: what you have seen in this series of exchanges is a documentation of the typical reaction of the Marxist Left. Their blog is full of arrogant sarcrasm yet they object to the same in return. They seriously hate captialism and a free market society, yet have nothing to say in defense of a Marxist/socialist alternative that keeps people from advancing their economic status and, hence, inproving their lot in life. We have no problem with their right to say what they say. But we have lots of problems with the content of thier rants and essays.

The reader should know that on the Kelley blog, theses two love birds busy themselves recommending books on Communism and disallowing opposing speech. Not the case here.

While I may be a bit heavy handed in my report, the Kelley's are equally so on their blog. The difference between the two of us is found in their inability to actually and effectively continue the argument with regard to substantive issues.

Understand that if you are going to preach Marxism and join in on the theft of this nation's founding principles, you are the enemy. There can be no casual disagreement between enemies in this case. Those of us who cherish open debate and free speech can no longer allow for the uncontested advancement of Marxism and anti-free market principles. With the coming of Obama and the Conservative grassroots alertative, the subtle and insidious growth of the social cancer we call Marxism is finally under attack and must be defeated in a final sense.

See you in November. jds
