Some thoughts from the editor of Midknight Review

We are happy to report that folks are not just passing by doing a surf and search of Midknight Review. No sir eeeee!

We are nearly as "big" as we were before Midknight Review was taken down on December 26th of last year. What has changed, however, is both our format and the nature of the content of 80% of our posts.

For the most part, we gather the facts and write our own news stories and sets us apart from the rest. We are certain our prose are not as professionally done as some, but our style of writing and many of our conclusions make for good reading. And that is not just Midknight Review talking to itself. The chart to the left proves our point.

Before the "fall" (Dec 26th, '08), our returning traffic was a disappointing 22%, on average. We tried a number of editorial approaches but to no avail. We carried a "Daily Buzz," a series of news headlines designed to be of interest to the reader, put into a collection that made for a quick read. Ah, not that good of an idea !! We tried post nothing but news headlines complete with their lead-in briefs -- again, no one really cared. Then came the 'fall' (Google decided we were a 'spam' site and shut us down - we lost 2000 articles and over a year and half of work) and an opportunity to change things.

This editor decided that if he has anything to say that is unique and, at times, even humorous, that just might be the feature that sets us apart from the others and reels in an attentive readership. And it seems to be working !! The pie chart shows a returning readership of nearly 55% and that number is growing. We already know that the next chart will show close to 70% of readers come back over and over again. That's nearly 1200 repeat "customers" each month. For us, that is a very good number.

We are looking to add a video feed that will feature yours truly with some commentary -- who knows, that just be the end of the Review !! We shall see.

Before ending this post, this editor wants to encourage all are concerned for this country that nothing is more important than the fact that God in Christ works for you. Our lives, in part, are about figuring out how to see that reality and partner with it. If what we say is true, the anger many of us feel at this time needs to subside. Conservatives and conservative Christians are the ones with a message of hope and renewal. Laws are made by men and can be amended by men. Don't believe otherwise. If "they" steal away our sense of purpose and contentment, "they" have won the war.

Think about. Make God in Christ work for you. Understand that you, the voter, are in charge. I mention this because today, I stated barking at my wife and best friend. She understands --- but she shouldn't have to --- jds.
