Republicans appear to have closed the
gap with Democrats in the all-important “generic ballot” — a clear sign
that the GOP is surging politically in the run-up to the November 2018
midterms.
Democrats
continue to insist that a “Blue Wave” will sweep their party back into
control of the House of Representatives and may even allow them to
recapture the Senate as well.
But the generic ballot —
the best single measure of the relative balance of support of the two
parties with the electorate — strongly suggests otherwise.

Another "generic ballot" and more bad news for the Democrats
RASMUSSEN: Generic Congressional Ballot: Republicans Lead by 12: GOP 48% Dems 36%...
Last week, Gallup had the generic ballot sitting on a 10 point separation between Republicans and Democrats. Today, Rasmussen Reports gives us our morning headline. And it is bad news for the Dems. It paints a worsening picture for the Democrats. Understand that the generic ballot is an excellent predictor of general national trends according to PEW Research in reports filed on Midknight Review early last month. While the Demcrats are trying to convince the voting public that the coming midterm elections is not a referendum vote on the Administration, the generic ballot paints a very different picture.
This explains why many Democrats, especially House Democrats, are running away from Obama and, even, against Obama. Representative Ron Wyden (D-Ore), a man who actually championed the healthcare bill, is now running against the bill and away from Obama. In fact, Wyden wants to pass legislation that will exempt Oregon from ObamaCare as a participating state and [exempt] the individual mandate, as well (see this related article re: Wyden). Understand that he feels this necessary while living in the very liberal state of Oregon. If we did not have a "generic poll," this eventuality would be cause enough to worry fellow Libs.
In a Congress fully controlled by Democrats, their failure to get the job done has proved to be devastating and they have no one to blame but themselves - and 75 million Americans, if not more, know who to blame and it ain't Bush. -- jds

GALLUP: GOP Takes Unprecedented 10-Point Lead on Generic Ballot...
Editor's notes: the significance of this development should not escape us. It has been years since the GOP had any sort of lead as relates to the "generic" ballot. Understand that this category of comparison means to pit unnamed Republican opponents against unnamed Democrat opponents. When used as a predictor of midterm elections, as is the case this year, the "generic ballot" has been proven accurate to a factor of 1.1 % -- which means to say that it is extremely accurate as an election forecast agent.
But, it is not that the GOP is simply ahead in the generic ballot polling, it is 10 points ahead, the highest separation for the GOP in the history of the Gallup poll, dating back to 1947.
Unless the Dems can figure out how to side with the American people on at least one major political issue, their defeat in the coming elections may be of a historical margin. They have time to turn this around, to a degree, but the stage will be set by the end of September, for the most part.
Tonight, Obama will address the American people on the war in Iraq - of all things - at a time when jobs are nearly non-existent, just two weeks following the establishment of a nuclear Iran under the Obama watch, at a time when Syria is in full partnership with Iran as they build a military alliance in Venezuela, after it has become known that China is doubling the size of its military at all levels and on the eve of another round of terrible financial numbers with regard to housing and employment.
It is this kind of political ineptitude that has run the numbers up on the generic ballot poll. As a conservative pundit, we are disappointed in the GOP for its failure to get its ideas "out there." That being said, this election cycle is all about the Democrats, their arrogance in governance and their profound disconnect with the American people.
