Mission Statement: This blog reviews the news of the day in light of 242 years of American history. "Nationalism," a modern day pejorative, has been our country's politic throughout history, until 2008. Obama changed that narrative. Trump is seeking a return to our historical roots. Midknight Review supports this return to normality.

There was a time when even the Left agreed that Russian interference failed
There was a time, just three years ago when even the Left agreed that Russian interference failed to change the voting outcome of the 2016 election, and when I say "the Left" I intend to include the leadership in the FBI (especially James
Here is a morning tweet from the Prez calling for an end to the Mueller "probe."
This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should
stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our
country any further. Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and . . .
Strzok decides tp show his true colors as he threatens to ignore a House subpoena
After going public with a stated desire to tell his side of the story, Strzok's attorney, made it clear that his client was no longer willing to testify and plans on ignoring a recent House subpoena (alla Eric Holder). Understand that Strzok was one of the FBI's top two agents driving both . . . .
Before the 2012 elections, Obama promised flexibility to the Russians. Now we know why.

<<< At the time Obama made this commitment, just before the 2012 elections, we had no idea as to his almost traitorous intent.
Obama shares high-tech training equipment with the enemy.
Behind closed doors the U.S. government is giving Russia
free military equipment—also used to train American troops—even after President
Obama announced punitive sanctions against Moscow and, more importantly, a
suspension in military engagement over the invasion and occupation of Ukraine.
Our Secret Military Technology Described
The secret operation was exposed this week by members of
Congress that discovered it in the process of reviewing the Fiscal Year 2014
budget and the proposed Fiscal Year 2015 budget request. It turns out that the
National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has been providing the Russian
Federation with the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES), the
federal legislators say. The U.S. military uses MILES for tactical
force-on-force training because it has a system of lasers and dummy ammunition
to simulate ground combat.
Apparently, Obama thinks it unfair that Russia has a trianing deficit
It’s a crucial, military-grade technology that’s similar to
a “laser tag” available in some commercial markets, according to one of the
outraged lawmakers (Oklahoma Republican Jim Bridenstine) that helped uncover
the scandal. Bridenstine, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, has
joined forces with Ohio Republican Mike Turner, Chairman of the House
Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces, to demand an end to the program.
Along with about a dozen other House colleagues they penned a letter to Energy
Secretary Ernest Moniz, who oversees the agency carrying out the “irresponsible
military equipment transfers” to Russia.
This military technology is being supplied to Russia without charge.
The Obama administration’s planned supply to the Russian
Federation is a grave mistake given the recent invasion of Ukraine launched by
Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, the legislators point out. “It is
difficult to imagine a worse time to provide military-grade technology employed
by the U.S. Marine Corps, Army, and Special Operations Forces to Russia than when
it has illegally invaded Ukraine and is violating the intermediate-range
Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty,” the letter to Moniz says. “To make matters worse, it is
our understanding from the budget documents that the Department has been, and
continues to propose, providing this technology to Russia free-of-charge.”
Obama, a terrible president setting terrible precedent, all because he, now, has "more flexibility," since the 2012 elections.
This is preposterous and borders on criminal if you really
think about it. As if we need reminding, Congressman Turner recants Putin’s
“brazen disregard for the sovereignty and stability of Eastern Europe” as well
as his disregard for international law. “Despite this overwhelming evidence
that Putin is not our ally, it is astonishing that the Obama Administration
would still provide superior, U.S. military technology to an aggressive and
advancing Russia,” Turner said. “The United States must seriously redirect its
approach and immediately terminate all military aid to Russia.”
When you have an idealistic fool for a Commander In Chief, the World of Evil is the benefactor.
President Obama has already proven to be an international
joke for his response to the worsening crisis in Ukraine. Even the mainstream
media in this country has blasted the commander-in-chief’s foreign policy as
based on fantasy. One famously liberal magazine published a satirical article
saying that the Obama administration froze Putin’s Netflix account as a “major ramping up of sanctions.” In a piece published a few days ago, a former veteran
congressman wrote this: “The embarrassment of U.S. impotence in dealing with
Russian aggression in the Ukraine is only the beginning of what will likely be
a series of foreign policy disasters.”

Obama sanctions hurting Russian economy in less than a week. . . . . remarkable.
Rebecca Shabad / The Hill:
Obama aide: US sanctions effectively weakening Russia — White House deputy national security adviser Tony Blinken argued Sunday the United States' sanctions are effectively hurting Russia's economy even though they haven't deterred Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Editor's notes: What an incredible lie. A week ago, Obama levied financial sanctions against seven Russian businessmen. Seven. And Saturday, he announced further sanctions. Yesterday.
There are more than 440,000 registered businesses in 22 cities in Russia, and thousands more in the smaller communities (Source: http://mxkr.ru/en/ ). The notion that after a single week, sanctions against no more than 20 individuals is causing Russian pain, is laughable.
Russia supplies oil to 25% of Europe, on average, with several European nations getting 40 to 60 percent of their energy supply from Russia. China just agreed to purchase it's fuel from Russia and is putting financial pressure on Ukraine, during this crisis.
Understand that sanctions cannot be said to have worked, if the goal driving sanctions is never realized. Iran is a case in point. The Marxist Media is constantly pointing out that "sanctions in Iran have worked," while, at the same time, admitting that Iran continues to pursue its goal of nuclear independence. In other words, sanctions have not worked.
Expect the same outcome with regard to Russia. Currently, the last people in this world aware of American sanctions, are the Russian people. Because of the internal Russian propaganda machine (yes, America is not the only country with an in-house, government run propaganda machine), few in Russia are even aware of American sanctions, much less are feeling the pain of the Obama sanctions . . . . even after an entire 7 days of American punishment against Mother Russia.
After five years of playing golf and giving speeches (two or more per day for five stinking years). Obama is now embarrassing the US with his ineptness.
Part of the problem in dealing with the Russian
"invasion" of Ukraine, is embedded in the fact that much of the
population is Russian speaking and sympathetic to Russian dominance. You
can see that Eastern Ukraine, fully half of the nation, is colored in light blue (grey?) and is Russian Speaking.

Here, we have the Ukraine (red print) with its Crimea
Peninsula (not named on the map) extending into the Black Sea with Georgia to
its immediate East. Crimea is where the confrontation has reached a
military pitch. No shots have been fired, but, there is
simply no way to stop Russia from doing whatever it has planned for the region.
Sadly, Obama has spent the first 5 years of his presidency doing
nothing in terms of diplomacy. We have no military options already in
place, as we should. Obama canceled the missile defense shields
promised to Poland and the Czech Republic, getting absolutely nothing in
return for this favor to Russia.
While Obama is talking about the costs of this Russian
action, Britain is backing away from any serious involvement.
Germany gets 75% of its energy from Russia, so count Germany out.
And the Viet Nam traitor, John Kerry, announced,
today, that the United States "does not want confrontation
with Russia." There is no talk of a military option, no
movement of force of any kind to the surround seas and/or region -
just nothing.
Know how this sounds? Let me paint a picture: If
or when you find yourself suddenly surrounded by a gang of seriously tough
guys, the first thing you will say is : "I don't want no
trouble." That is what our leaders have chosen to say to the tough
guy, V Putin. They sound like cowards, folks unwilling to
stand up to the bully on the block; heck, even refusing to admit
that Putin IS the bully on the block. LaLa land is where our leadership
lives.
