Here is what a Conservative pundit has pushed forward to a Liberal World reading his point of view perhaps for the first time. If you have a Democrat irl friend, maybe you should intorduce her to this article.

A massive conservative victory in Australia, Saturday, may forecast hard times for Progressive/Socialists here, in American,

His name is Tony Abbot.  He is a Rhodes Scholar and,  as of yesterday,  the new Prime Minister in Australia . . . . . and he is as conservative as Ted Cruz!  

Abbot ran on the issues of the day:  against a massive carbon tax he promised to abolish, ever increasing governmental spending and liberal immigration reform that included an almost unrestrained asylum policy.  Understand that like the United States,  Australia already has an immigration process,  but Aussy Liberals saw immigration reform and amnesty as political power,  and was using reform on this issue to maintain their political prominence.  But,  after six years,  Australians. saw the damage being done,  and voted for a change of direction.  They voted to end the surge in higher taxes and the rise of the "welfare state,"  in Australia.  

The fact that their issues have more than a familiar ring to my ears,  gives me a little hope for this country as regards the coming two elections,  2014 and 2016.    

Understand that my comparison to Ted Cruz is not an endorsement of Cruz,  but the comparison seems to worthy of comment, nonetheless  In his country,  Tony Abbot is seen as an uncompromising conservative, favoring paid maternity leave but opposed to abortion on demand and gay marriage.  His  willingness to at, least, try  to turn that country around and govern on the basis of long held national principles. Hopefully,  he actually knows what he is doing and will see success in these troubled times.
