Socialist Democrat, Cortez, visits a restaurant in New York City that is closing because of minimum wage requirements.

"The restaurant I used to work at is closing its doors. I swung by today to say hi one last time and kid around with friends like old time.      I'm a normal, working person who chose to run for office, because I believe we can have a better future. You can do it too. We all can."

While she celebrates her "common roots,"  the iconic cafe of her younger days,  has been forced into closure because of ever increasing rent made unaffordable due to minimum wage requirements.   The restaurant employed 150 people but could not afford the $32,000 minimum wage requirement, . . . .
. . . .  per job opening.  Understand that the owner employed "part time" help to avoid paying "benefits."  But the job,  filled by two employees during an eight hour shift, nevertheless required a $15.00 per hour wage.  That is $32,000 per year for a single job opening.

You should know that there were close to 15 million folks working at minimum wage,  in 1978.  Today,  the minimum wage has grown from $2.73 per hour to $15 while the minimum wage work force has shrunk from the 15 million figure to under 6 million.

While the ignorant dance in the streets for higher wages,  they are not aware that they are shuttering their own job opportunities.  Money does not grow on trees,  a fact that Socialists really do not understand.
