Bill Clinton said this back in October of 2014. (It's a great rhetorical lesson from another horndog President, btw.)

I believe in ways large and small,  peaceful and sometimes violent,  that the biggest threat to our future children and grandchildren is the poison . . .
of identity politics that preaches that our differences are far more important than our common humanity ~ Bill Clinton

The problem with identity politics  (vote for me because I am black,  or, a woman,  or, an evangelical,  or,  I am gay  etc.) is that you have to denigrate all others who are not included in your identity, or, your "identity" means nothing when pitched against the larger narratives of liberty for all,  peace for all,  and unity in the midst of diversity . . . . .  for all  ~  editor
