President Trump's shortlist for Director of the FBI includes three congressional figures with legal career histories.

FBI Short List:

Kelly Ayotte,  former New Hampshire senator,  Representative Trey Gowdy and Senator John Cornyn.

The problem that some see with these names is found in the ridiculous claim that,  "for the first time,"  the FBI is about to be overly influenced by politics.

I say "ridiculous claim" because the politicization of the FBI has already happened.   We just did not know it until the Comey/Hillary Clinton partnership was exposed in the days before the election.

While I allow for the politicization of the FBI,  I do not mean to imply that Ayotte,  Gowdy or Cornyn would be "political" appointments.  They would not   . . . . .  "political" only in the fact they come from political careers in addition to their former lives:  Ayotte came to the Senate after serving as Attorney General of New Hampshire,  Cornyn was Attorney General in Texas and served on the Texas Supreme Court,  and Trey Gowdy solicitor (district attorney) for the state's Seventh Judicial Circuit, comprising Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties. From 1994 to 2000, he was a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney for the District of South Carolina. In 2014, Gowdy became chairman of a House Select Committee to investigate the 2012 Benghazi attack.

Any of the three would be great for the FBI.  It is amazing to me,  the depth of serious and qualified talent within the GOP  -  and none of them "lie" as a matter of party policy.

Refreshing.

  2. Comey turned down the request to testify partly because he wants to be subpoena’d instead, which would legally compel him to testify, thus freeing him up legally to discuss more sensitive aspects of the Trump-Russia investigation. But it turns out there’s more to it. A New York Times article indicates Comey wants a PUBLIC hearing.

    1. Is this the same NY Times that predicted a Hillary victory, or supported the Hillary lie about Benghazi, or helped to cover up Fast and Furious, or refused to vett the Obama/Jeremiah Wright connection, or covered up the IRS scandal or Barack's criminal cash to Iran deal or . . . . . . . . . . . . .
