Wa/Post tries to pit "America First" against the larger moral responsibility we share for human decency.

Greg Jaffe / Washington Post:
Trump and his ‘America First’ philosophy face first moral quandary in Syria

With this headline,  the Wa/Post tries to pit "America First" against the larger moral responsibility we share for human decency.  Clearly,  this is simply not an issue with President Trump.   Patriotism in no way stands apart from our sense of leadership and fairness in the global community.  If you think otherwise,  it is only because the enemies of true nationalism have done their worst at convincing folks that,  after 43 "nationalist/patriotism first" presidents,  "nationalism" is suddenly a moralistic evil.

Understand that our first "America first" president was George Washington,  and that tradition was the prevailing tradition through and including our 43rd president,  G.W. Bush.  Barack was the first AND ONLY president who did not believe in American Exceptionalism  . . . . .    the first and only.  Now,  we have an entire political party rejecting the principle.

Nice try,  Wa/Post,  but no cigar.
