The Roseburg shooter was an Independent, not a conservative Republican. Besides, conservative Republicans do not kill Christians, period.

There were many media outlets reporting the Oregon shooter as a ‘conservative Republican’ based on an old dating profile that he appeared to have filled out, shown above.
Leaving aside the accuracy of what one might fill out in such a form, the thought was of course completely inconsistent with his actions in specifically targeting Christians. Not a very conservative Republican thing to do. Not to mention that that same dating profile mentioned that he was into black magic or the ‘left handed path’, that of course also militates against ‘conservatism’ as there aren’t too many conservative occultists out there.
As it turns out, his voting registration reveals he was not in fact a Conservative Republican, but an Independent. Oregon is also a closed primary state so registered Independents cannot vote in the primaries of other parties, so he was a true Independent, not one registered to be able to cross over elsewhere.

  1. How about we treat every young man who wants to buy a gun like every woman in a Republican state who wants to get an abortion — mandatory 48-hr waiting period, parental permission, a note from his doctor proving he understands what he's about to do, a video he has to watch about the effects of gun violence, an ultrasound of his brain to check for problems. Let's close down all but one gun shop in every state and make him travel hundreds of miles, take time off work, and stay overnight in a strange town to get a gun. Make him walk through a gauntlet of people holding photos of loved ones who were shot to death, people who call him a murderer and beg him not to buy a gun.

    1. No "Republican" state does all of the above, but, just in case you missed the point, its not about abortion so much as it is about another human life.

Secondly, none of the above would have prevented what happened in Roseburg. . live in California with its host of restrictive gun laws and I still own 4 guns, all legal, of course

    2. "The Second Amendment has been the subject of one of the greatest pieces of fraud, I repeat the word 'fraud,' on the American public by special interest groups that I have ever seen in my lifetime."
--- Former Chief Justice Warren Burger
"For more than 200 years, the federal courts have unanimously determined that the Second Amendment concerns only the arming of the people in service to an organized state Militia: it does not guarantee immediate access to guns for private purposes. The nation can no longer afford to let the gun lobbies' distortion of the constitution cripple every reasonable attempt to implement an effective national policy towards guns and crime."

(CNN)The rate of gun-related murders fell sharply in the 10 years after Connecticut implemented a law requiring people buying firearms to have a license, according to a study.

In 1995, a permit-to-purchase handgun law went into effect in Connecticut, stating that people who want to buy a gun must apply for a license (or permit) with the local police, a process that involves a background check, as well as complete at least eight hours of gun safety training. The law also raised the minimum purchasing age from 18 to 21.

    3. This (the above comment) is what is wrong with the "logic" of the Left, folks. In the end, there are no laws, on the books, in whatever city, that would have prevented Roseburg.

Secondly, I am fine with a 10 day waiting period and a prepurchase check. Here in California , you can't purchase a gun at a home show without a security check and the 10 waiting period. Again, none of this would have prevented Roseburg.

When the Left argues, "We've got to do something," just know that our kids are safer at school, shootings and all, than they are at home if that home has a pool, or driving their own cars.

The Left needs to stop obsessing about those things it cannot prevent.
