Mission Statement: This blog reviews the news of the day in light of 242 years of American history. "Nationalism," a modern day pejorative, has been our country's politic throughout history, until 2008. Obama changed that narrative. Trump is seeking a return to our historical roots. Midknight Review supports this return to normality.
In the end, this national election will not be won by those who cheat.
In a digital age, you might be surprised to learn that many states once using electronic voting are actually switching back to paper — some after disastrous elections that resulted from the lack of a paper trail.
Florida, New Mexico, Michigan and Washington state are a few that in recent years made the move to require use of paper ballots instead of electronic voting systems, according to Verified Voting President Pamela Smith. But they’re not shying away from technology altogether, these and some other states using paper ballots employ specialized scanners to count the ballots. . . . The Blaze
This editor lives in the central valley of California. We have not had mechanical ballot voting for years. But, absentee balloting and other forms of early voting, as unnecessary as these processes are, form another battlefield when it comes to fairness in counting and reporting. Democrats in this state [California], use all forms of early balloting as gimmicks to winning close elections. All such ballots are hand counted and are hand counted by members of the SEIU -- Democrats all.
I mention "winning close elections," because cheating as a path to winning any election in our country, really only works if that particular election is within point or two of the total number of votes cast. We should all be encouraged in that fact. While we do need to be vigilant, this election can only be won or lost if the election, itself, is a record "close" election.
If, for example, it all boils down to how the state of Ohio votes, and the voting in that state is within a few thousand votes, one way or the other, then the cheaters have a shot at winning. But, if turn out gives the GOP a true advantage, for example, the outcome will be fair and representative.
