And you say "Huh ??"
Well, beginning in 2015, all new cars will come equipped with a little black box which belongs to you but collects information that is shared (by mandate) with others.
In an article from InFoWars.com, we have this report:
Although the text
of legislation states that such data would remain the property of the owner of
the vehicle, the government would have the power to access it in a number of
circumstances, including by court order, if the owner consents to make it available, and pursuant to an
investigation or inspection conducted by the Secretary of Transportation.
Given
the innumerable examples of both government and industry illegally using
supposedly privacy-protected information to spy on individuals, this represents
the slippery slope to total Big Brother surveillance of every American’s
transport habits and location data.
Understand that I do not often reference this conservative blog. While we are on the same page, politically, on occasion the reporting does not include the same conclusions I would have drawn. At any rate, this story seems to be right on.
After reading the article and the suggestion that the information collected can only be used by my permission, I have to ask, "Then why put it in my car, at all ?"
My wife and I are planning on buying a new car in a couple of years, and that black box will not continue in my car. There has to be an end to all this collection of data "for the greater good." And, for this grumpy old man, this will be one of those times. I know a few business men who keep two computer systems, one is "on line" and the other, where all their accounting data is contained, is off line and have never to connected.
The youngerer citizen might surrender her liberties for peace of mind, but she is a fool who offers up such surrender.
Of course, there may be legal issues with my decision, but, where there is a will, there is a way.
Section 31406 of
Senate Bill 1813 (known as MAP-21), calls for “Mandatory Event Data
Recorders” to be installed in all new automobiles and legislates for civil
penalties to be imposed against individuals for failing to do so.
If nothing else, the device will not be allowed (by me) to collect information in perpetuity. It is the principle of the thing. Disagree to your own demise. I really do not care, except for my grand kids . . . . and what do they know. Maybe our country is headed for the kind of societal confinement we see in North Korea. But keep voting for the Progressive, I want to tell you all what to do, brand of governance and, in time, you all will be enslaved, without god or the right to serve God, and you will have no idea what happened.
