I am hoping that Ron Paul does not pull that trick with this election. The fact that he has not put that option "to bed," is most disappointing to me.
Mission Statement: This blog reviews the news of the day in light of 242 years of American history. "Nationalism," a modern day pejorative, has been our country's politic throughout history, until 2008. Obama changed that narrative. Trump is seeking a return to our historical roots. Midknight Review supports this return to normality.
The headline: "Mitt courts H Bush." Anyone still think Mitt is anything but an establishment Republican?
Understand that H was not a bad president. Indeed, he was fairly conservative on point, but he moved environmentalism along and got the ball rolling on NAFTA, something that Clinton finalized. He was voted into the presidency in November of 1988 and lost re-election to Bill Clinton in 1992. There is the myth that he lost the 1992 election because of the "read my lips" contradiction. Not even close to being true. He lost the election because the idiot, Ross Perot, took 19% of the conservative vote. Bush lost to Clinton 38% to 43% , a 5 point margin. There is no question that Perot made the difference.
