We have general elections, special elections, mid-term elections and national elections (involving the presidency).
This year, an "off year" for elections, saw a recall election in Arizona; a special election on two major issues in Ohio; a number of county and mayoral elections in the interior of Florida, and, low key, state, county and city elections, elsewhere.
California had no elections on Tuesday.
The closest thing to a referendum on Obama, was the lone issue of ObamaCare, in Ohio. The people of that state voted to refuse the mandate of ObamaCare. This is important, because Ohio promises to be one of those critical states, in the coming national election.
So how did the voters feel about yesterday's local and state results? The Wall street Journal tells us that only 14% were "very dissatisfied" while 86% were "mildly unhappy" to "very satisfied." So, it was good news for all.
In the end, this election cycle gives us nothing substantial to work from, in determining how things might go in 2012. Not to worry - by the end of the coming summer, we all will be almost completely consumed with this particular election.
I will writing so fast and furious, by then, that I doubt I will have time to bathe. Guess I will just have to pretend I am one of those Occupy people.
