More about Tuesday's elections

All and all, the state assembly elections in Mississippi went very well. A GOP governor was elected to replace the retiring Haley Barbour. The margin of victory was 61% to 39%. This may be the first time in recent history that a Republican governor replaced a different Republican governor in back to back terms. The voters of the state also approved voter ID and restrictions on eminent domain laws.

In Virginia, substantial gains were made by the Republican state party; not as big a victory as hoped, but a solid performance, nonetheless, in a state won by Obama by 6 points in '08.

Ohio saw the defeat of the mandated ObamaCare bill by a 2 to 1 majority. The state voted "Obama" by 5 points in the presidential election and is a "toss up" in everyone's book, including mine, for the coming election.
