The WaPost sold yesterday, for a poultry $250 million. But the bigger story (much much bigger) is its 7 page expose of the "other world" of counter terrorism. In short, it is so big, it has become ineffective. We are not safer than 10 years ago !!!

Excerpts from an impressive and comprehensive Washington Post article (7 pages),  tells us the sad story of waste and a growing ineptness within the counter terrorism community,  all because of an anti-terror economy that is out of control, secretive beyond belief,  and in opposition to many of  America’s values.  It is a long article.  I am not a fan of the WaPost,  but,  this investigation is very impressive,  a must read for those who really care about what is going on in this country.  In short,  ineptness abounds with help from Obama’s feckless administration.

The top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work  . . . . . . .

These are not academic issues; lack of focus, not lack of resources, was at the heart of the Fort Hood shooting that left 13 dead, as well as the Christmas Day bomb attempt thwarted not by the thousands of analysts employed to find lone terrorists but by an alert airline passenger who saw smoke coming from his seatmate . . . . .

Underscoring the seriousness of these issues are the conclusions of retired Army Lt. Gen. John R. Vines, who was asked last year to review the method for tracking the Defense Department's most sensitive programs. Vines, who once commanded 145,000 troops in Iraq and is familiar with complex problems, was stunned by what he discovered.

"I'm not aware of any agency with the authority, responsibility or a process in place to coordinate all these interagency and commercial activities," he said in an interview. "The complexity of this system defies description."   The result, he added, is that it's impossible to tell whether the country is safer because of all this spending and all these activities. "Because it lacks a synchronizing process, it inevitably results in message dissonance, reduced effectiveness and waste," Vines said. Forget 40 hours per week; Obama in his infinite wisdom has used ObamaCare to redefine "full time employment" as a 30 hour per week job; how weak is that?

House Republicans have crunched the numbers and say that since President Obama took office, the economy has added seven times more part-time jobs than it has created full-time jobs.

Since January 2009 the country has added a net total of 270,000 full-time jobs, but it has added 1.9 million part-time jobs, according to the House Ways and Means Committee.

Obama sends #2 man in State Department to visit Morsi in jail and wonders why Egyptians no longer see him as a friend. (see the video)

First, the Boston Globe was sold for a 93% loss by the NYT; now, the WaPost has sold to the owner of Amazon.

Politico makes the announcement the Washington Post could not:  The transaction covers The Washington Post and other publishing businesses, including the Express newspaper, The Gazette Newspapers, Southern Maryland Newspapers, Fairfax County Times, El Tiempo Latino and Greater Washington Publishing.

In a separate letter to staff, Bezos promised that his ownership would bring no radical change to the paper's core values, but said the paper would need to "invent" and "experiment" to keep pace with the transformations in digital journalism.

"The values of The Post do not need changing," he wrote. "The paper’s duty will remain to its readers and not to the private interests of its owners. We will continue to follow the truth wherever it leads, and we’ll work hard not to make mistakes. When we do, we will own up to them quickly and completely."  

Editor's notes:  Bezos' promise for the status quo,  or something similar,  is unbelievable.  The WaPost has been under the same ownership for 80 years and is considered the second most influential paper in the States.  Weeks before,  the New York Times was forced to take a 93% loss on his money,  and sold the Boston Globe.  CNN and MSNBC have trade places for last place in the cable news ratings while FOX NEWS continues to set records,  year after year.  

"No changes?"  We all know that the paper would not have sold if times were good,  but they are not and I believe the Left has the feckless  . . . . . .  the obviously feckless,  Obama to thank for the mess in which the Lefties find themselves  ---------   and to think,  after the 2008,  all we heard were news ledes predicting the total and irreversible demise of conservative politics.  Of course,  it is far too early to start dancing in the streets.

Anyone know what this is? One of 22 embassy closed for a week because we fear Muslim terrorists happily taunting this great nation.

After 9/11 and under Bush 43,  we won a war in Iraq,  killed 30,000 to 40,000 terrorist,  and did not have a single attack in our homeland.  

Under Obama,  we have completely stopped with enemy interrogations  (oh yes we have),  have lost a war in Afghanistan,  allowed Iran to take charge of the Middle East,  undermined two evil but pro-West regimes in Libya and Egypt,   supported the Muslim Brotherhoods rise to power,  witnessed four attacks on our homeland including the Boston Bombings and the Fort Hood massacre,  and now,  we are running from the Muslim Jihad in 22 different nations,   world wide.  Anyone get the feeling that Obama is doing all this on purpose???  

Back then, Al was just a race baiter; today he is that but with the blessings of his president. Three more years !!

NY Post:  Last week, 10 checks totaling $3,764.61 were delivered to ex-prosecutor Steven Pagones — the first payments Brawley has made since a court determined in 1998 that she defamed him with her vicious hoax.

She still owes Pagones $431,000 in damages. And she remains defiantly unapologetic.

“It’s a long time coming,” said Pagones, 52, who to this day is more interested in extracting a confession from Brawley than cash

Fat and defiant back then - same old Rev Al. 

“Every week, she’ll think of me,” he told The Post. “And every week, she can think about how she has a way out — she can simply tell the truth.”

Brawley’s advisers in the infamous race-baiting case — the Rev. Al Sharpton, and attorneys C. Vernon Mason and Alton Maddox — have already paid, or are paying, their defamation debt. But Brawley, 41, had eluded punishment.

She’s now forced to pay Pagones $627 each month, possibly for the rest of her life. Under Virginia law, she can appeal the wage garnishment every six months.

Notes:  I thought it interesting that a New York paper would call Sharpton a “race baiter”  (by implication),  and,  two,  that Sharpton is having to pay for his role in this incident.  And to think,  because of Obama,  Sharpton has been given a sense of credibility when,  in reality,  he is the same old racist fraud he has always been.

Before this is all over, he just might get us all killed. (You figure out what I mean).

FoxNews:  The United States will temporarily shut down its embassies and consulates around the world Sunday -- including those in Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt -- as a precautionary measure over terror-related concerns, State Department officials said.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf did not say how long the international installations would stay closed -- only that the decision was taken “out of an abundance of caution and care for our employees and others who may be visiting.” Officials would not describe the nature of the threat. 

Sunday is a normal workday in many Arab and Middle Eastern countries, meaning that is where the closures will have an impact. Embassies in Europe and Latin America would be shuttered that day anyway.

“We have instructed all U.S. embassies and consulates that would have normally been open on Sunday to suspend operations, specifically on August 4,” a senior State Department official said Thursday night. “It is possible we may have additional days of closing as well.”

Other U.S. officials said the threat was specifically in the Muslim world. 

The issue of security abroad has been prominent since the attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, and a string of demonstrations on other U.S. embassies in the Middle East and North Africa.

As things stand, today, Paul Ryan is the only candidate that can win nomination in 2016. Here is why:

Whereas Republicans in the Senate's "Gang of Eight" sought the most liberal bill they could get away with, Ryan is trying to craft the most conservative proposal that can pass both houses."

Notes:  Too bad Marco Rubio got roped in with McCain and his compromising “moderate” agenda as to reforming the GOP.  I honestly believe he (Rubio) meant well but now that the Senate version is written,  I doubt he will be able to regain the luster he had before this immigration push.  Remember,  his initially stated positions were very agreeable from a conservative point of view,  but his insistence for border control as a trigger for moving on with an approved  immigration legislative schedule was never something McCain or Graham,  or Perv Menendez, or our near commie legislator, Dick Durbin,  or the man with the deceiving smile,  Charles Schumer had in mind  -----   and they all have much more experience playing the political game than our honest and well meaning Rubio. 

Let’s be careful not to roll Paul Ryan into this pathetic and comprising cabal.  Understand that the RINO Herd, in  the Senate, believes that the lingering immigration issue is very bad for the GOP,  unless (from their point of view) they can get this bit of reform passed and behind them.  

Ryan is not of the same mindset.  In fact,  he has made it clear that the House will not even consider the Senate bill,  in floor or committee debate.  He and House leadership will draft their own legislation and send it back to the Senate.  No one really knows where Boehner stands on this issue,  but if he is agreeable to the Ryan process,  we have a hero in the Grand Old Party . . . namely,  Paul Ryan.  

Under Obama, the Socialist Progressives have turned our nation into a war zone. Here is a perfect example:

A judge ordered one of Chicago’s most politically powerful labor unions to suspend picketing against 16 funeral homes last week after receiving reports that striking Teamsters had, among other things, disturbed a child’s funeral.

SCI Illinois Services, Inc., one of the nation’s largest funeral home chains, asked a district court to intervene after striking funeral directors and drivers with Teamsters Local 727 allegedly harassed grieving families.

“We are grateful that the court agreed to issue this temporary restraining order, and we are hopeful that it will help protect grieving families who are experiencing the most difficult times of their lives,” Larry Michael, managing director for SCI Illinois Services, Inc., said in a release. “While we recognize and respect the Teamsters’ right to lawfully picket, we have been shocked and saddened by their attempts to make grieving families the target of the cruel and outrageous attacks.”  Read the full story at the Beacon.

Notes:  Here we have, yet,  another example of the  violent tendencies embedded in the Progressive Left.  The larger unions in this country all have radical socialist backgrounds and have always stood firm for the advancement of their specific needs to the  detriment of the larger population,  whether in cities such as Chicago,  states such as California or Illinois,  or,  on a national level  (i.e. unions protecting federal workers).  More than this,  these large,  private sector labor unions all have  long histories of mob rule, violence and sheer intimidation.   Understand that in the present fiscal crisis,  unions such as the Teamsters have refused to “pay their fair share” and continue to demand increases in wages and benefits as if there was no crisis.  Such is the case in this Chicago circumstance.  This strike was called after the union turned down a 9% pay increase which is between $400 and $700 per month,  in most individual cases.  Obama “grew up” in this political environment and his methodology as a community organizer was one that included boycotts,  negative press releases,  and intimidation.  It is the Chicago way. 

Add to the violent types in the Democrat controlled unions,  the Congressional Black Caucus, race baiters such as the feckless Al Sharpton,  anarchists such as “Occupy,”  and the very violent environmental groups, and you have a rather large contingency,  pron to violence and expressed hate.  Obama has empowered and enabled this violent race industry,  and we all just have to wait for three years until leadership at the top changes.
