Elle: Nordstrom has confirmed that it has dropped Ivanka Trump's line from its stores. Yesterday, Business Insider noticed that Trump's products–which include shoes, clothing, and accessories–had largely disappeared from the company's website, and that her name had been removed from the store's master list of available brands.
"We've
said all along we make buying decisions based on performance," a
Nordstrom spokesperson said in a statement last night. "Reviewing [our
brands'] merit and making edits is part of the regular rhythm of our
business. Each year we cut about 10% and refresh our assortment with
about the same amount. In this case, based on the brand's performance
we've decided not to buy it for this season."
But
while the company maintains that this was purely a business decision,
the move is being widely interpreted as a response to the months-long
#GrabYourWallet campaign. Started prior to the presidential election,
the campaign saw consumers boycotting Nordstrom and other retailers
selling products with ties to President Donald Trump and his family.
