Bill Crystal, the editor, has been dealt a fatal blow, we hope, in his attempt at derailing Donald Trump

David French / National Review:
I'm Not Running for President  —  I'm not the right person to challenge Trump and Hillary, but the path remains open for others.  —  Here is a sentence I never thought I'd type: After days of prayer, reflection, and serious study of the possibilities, I am not going to run as an independent candidate …

Editor's notes:  Bill Crystal,  the editor of the Weekly Standard,  has been dealt a fatal blow,  we hope,  in his attempt at derailing Donald Trump.  David French was Crystal brain-child and, now,  that ridiculous fantasy is dead dead dead.

Crystal along with Mitt Romney,  the Loser in 2012,  and Jeb Bush,  the Loser in 2016, all demanded that Trump sign his pledge to the GOP.  In the end,  each turned in their "morality card,"  deserted the GOP and that pledge,  and, decided to play by their own rules.  I do not believe Mitt understands that he no longer has any serious influence within the GOP.  Jeb has taken on the disposition of a whiny baby,  along with his brother and (especially) his parents.

Ted Cruz is painfully silent to the point that it appears he is part of the #nevertrump crowd without making a statement to that effect   . . . .   typical politician that he is.  Clearly,  he believes that he has a shot at the presidency in 2020,  but I suspect that his candidacy is already dead,  waiting to be buried after the 2020 primaries.

  1. ABC News is now reporting that the Florida AG Pam Bondi, personally solicited a political contribution from Donald Trump at the same time her office deliberated joining an investigation of fraud at Trump University. Bondi reported receiving the $25,000 check four days AFTER she publicly announced she was considering a probe of Trump University's activities. Now she won't respond to questions.

"When I want something I get it. When I call, they kiss my ass. It's true." - Donald Trump

Trump today encouraged his staff to keep making the racist case against the federal judge deciding his case, despite harsh criticism from GOP leaders Newt Gingrich, Paul Ryan, and Mitch McConnell.
