Myth: The GOP is the party of the rich. The truth is told in the following:

Radicalized Tom Steyer is much more the Leftist influence than the Koch brothers ever thought of being.  Nancy Pelosi's 26 million dollars are the product of her marriage, insider trading,  and the money made off her grapes.  Microsoft's Gates pays his female employees at a lesser rate than the men and is as partisan a political hack as anyone.  Warren has made millions off oil and gas;  Bloomberg is as compromised on environmental issues as he is confused as to which party he supports.  And this year,  the Dems are swimming in money.  In fact,  most election cycles,  historically,  have the Dems bringing in a third more money than the GOP.   Finally,  let's not forget that Obama took in $400 million in private donations and refused to reveal those sources, much of that money coming from laundered/foreign sources.

  1. Not the party of the rich... the party of people controlled by the rich.

The Republicans' 2014 message is built around the Politics of Fear: of ISIS, of Ebola, of migrant children, .... but those same Republicans don't believe in using government to solve problems.

They're a contradiction, the know nothing party, no ideas but hate, fear... and more for the top 1%.

    1. Your sense of "progressive politics" is about to receive its reward from the people of America.

Controlled by the rich? You've got to be kidding. Why do you think 90% of trial lawyers are Democrats? Why are most Jewish business people Democrat? Why did Elizabeth Warren chair TARP and allow more than 7 trillion dollars to be funneled through that legislation to Big Banking? Why do Democrats refuse to audit the Fed or Fannie and Freddie? Why is Rich Hollywood Democratic? Why do the filthy rich Unions pledge allegiance to the Democrats? Why? Because all these constituencies know that the Democrat party is a slave to their individual wants, needs and desires . . . . . . . making your opening sentence, above, as laughable a statement as you have made, and there have been dozens of such moments.

  2. The truth is exactly what I have reported. More than this, in the article you reference in your "comment," we have this idiotic statement: " At the low rate of only 15%, the wealthiest Americans pay the same tax rate as a greater at Walmart." Folks who make more than 250,000 per year pay nearly 40% of their income in taxes. That is the first problem with drivel found at the Times. Secondly, a WalMart greeter does not pay any taxes if she knows how to add and subtract her deductions.
