Baghdad, by contrast, is largely Shia. More than this, Baghdad is a city of 9 million and the Shia population really has nowhere to run. Standing their ground and protecting the city seems to be the only course of action.
Mission Statement: This blog reviews the news of the day in light of 242 years of American history. "Nationalism," a modern day pejorative, has been our country's politic throughout history, until 2008. Obama changed that narrative. Trump is seeking a return to our historical roots. Midknight Review supports this return to normality.
We answer the question: Is Baghdad in immediate danger of being taken by ISIS?
I have not spent much time in print, preaching doom and gloom for Baghdad. Can it fall? Of course. Mosul, in the north, fell to ISIS and it was a city of 2 million. But Mosul was a Sunni town, and many of these people left Mosul to fight with ISIS, a Sunni terror group.
