Hot Air carried this headline, at the end of this busy Senate day:
Open thread: Senate gun-control vote-a-rama;Update: Toomey/Manchin fails, 54/46; Update: GOP’s bill fails, 52/48; Update: Assault-weapons ban crushed, 40/60; Update: Reid to pull entire gun bill tomorrow.
All in all, you are looking at one of the worst political defeats in recent memory - certainly the worst of Obama's presidential career. CNN, NBC News, Politico, The Hill, and just about anyone who is "anyone," all agree, this defeat is huge. In 2010, Barry O scored an "F" from the Brady Campaign, for his stance on gun control, and that included his stance on "universal registration." Then came Sandy Hook. Obama saw what he thought was an easy win. Rather than come up with real solutions, however, he over-shot his opportunity, and now stands in the ruins of his own making.
When I speak of over-shooting his opportunity, I have in mind his decision to bury the NRA and conservative gun owners throughout the nation. Obama clearly thought he could shame Congress into taking the first steps to destroy the 2nd Amendment. We, also, know that he would be fine banning all guns except shotguns (home defense). Further, many believe that he will come along side any and all UN legislation that would ban guns, world wide.
So the beat goes, but Obama has lost the first major fight 2013. Hang this trophy on the wall along with climate change legislation, card check, passage of the "fairness doctrine," and his unwillingness to work on immigration legislation during his first year, as promised.
Keep voting against what 90% of America wants. See where it gets you. See where it has gotten you - 8 yrs of Obama and the rest of your life under a Dem president.

I will vote with the 90% in law enforcement who do not think the Democrat bill would have done any good whatever.
