Obama slams GOP for protecting contributors - kind of like what he did with the 400 million in undisclosed campaign funding back in 2008

President Obama on Saturday slammed congressional Republicans for opposing efforts that would force special-interest groups to disclose their donors for campaign-related activities.

Obama’s salvo comes in the midst of an intense midterm election season in which the GOP has been gaining momentum and is seen as potentially gaining enough seats in the House to be in majority and diminish the Democratic majority in the Senate. . . . . READ MORE >>>>

Editor's notes: The old campaign record was around 360 million for a presidential candidate. McCain and Obama promised to limit their spending in keeping with the Feingold/McCain Campaign Finance bill. At the last minute, Obama bailed out of that agreement, leaving McCain to die by his own campaign finance sword. In the end, McCain revealed his sources. He collected 330 million for his campaign - a near record.

Obama officially received 770 million dollars, destroying the previous campaign record. He refused to reveal the sources for 400 million of the money received. Understand that, during the '08 campaign, Obama refused a $84 public grant for his campaign and in that refusal, protected himself from the likelihood of a federal (FEC) audit. A primary complaint leveled against the Obama campaign is his decision to forgo credit card fraud checks. In a 2008 Politico article, we have this summary statement of any pending investigations:

The Federal Election Commission is unlikely to conduct a potentially embarrassing audit of how Barack Obama raised and spent his presidential campaign’s record-shattering windfall, despite allegations of questionable donations and accounting that had the McCain campaign crying foul. Adding insult to injury for Republicans: The FEC is obligated to complete a rigorous audit of McCain’s campaign coffers, which will take months, if not years, and cost McCain millions of dollars to defend.

Point of post: Obama was NEVER a "different kind of politician." Being black and beautiful is not the kind of change any of us had in mind.
