Editor's notes: Rasmussen gives us some very interesting polling numbers. For example, the highlighted (red) numbers for 5/23/2010, present the hardcore pro-Obama supporters. On the far left, we see a "-17" recording for the Presidential Approval Index. This "Index" represents a measure of the enthusiasm level for those supporting Mr. Obama. The current reading is nearing record lows for the Presiding Novice. It tells us that his base is not highly motivated at this time. GITMO remains open and there is little talk about its closing. Talk without plans scores points for only a short time while leaving a bad "after taste" for months, if not years. Obama was going to take all the troops out of Iraq by the end of 2009. Now ? Well, he is looking to 2011 for the Iraqi move but will leave at least 50,000 troops in that country for an indefinite period of time -- promises excluded. He condemned "waterboarding" while, at the same time, fostering a plan to kill the enemy by Drone. Apparently, Lefties are fine with out and out killing the enemy along with the unmentioned collateral deaths, but waterboarding for the purposes of getting information that will save military lives -- well that is a no no. And then there is this business about the national debt. Believe it or not, more and more folks on the Left are getting discouraged with Obama's failure in this venue. Finally, the Arizona immigration issue has turned on the Democrats as well -- including Obama's base. In recent network polling, 75% of Democrats join 85% of Republicans in agreeing with Arizona that states should have the right to determine such policies.
On the right side of the Rasmussen listing, below, you will find the "Total Approval" number, a record of the nation's most likely voters. On average, that number remains a near record lows for the week.
