Midknight Review taks about Hawaii -- its historic but not significant

Typically, the best you can hope for is a 60 - 40 split, Dems over Republicans. That's what happened this past week, only the 60% Democrat voting block split 31/29 for two completing Democrats and the Republican candidate won the day.

The election is good until November when the midterms will elect another Senator from Hawaii. Unless newly elected Charles Djou really impresses during the next 6 months, his days are numbered and this Senate seat will return to the Democrats.

Its been 20 years since a Republican won a Senate seat in Hawaii, the supposed state of Obama's birth, making this election somewhat historic but, unless it remains a Republican seat after midterms, there really is not significance to this particular election. Our side will crow about it, but, in the end, to no avail. --- jds
